I highly recommend this place. They run a highly professional operation with excellent, respectful and caring guides. You are paying for a personalised experience that you will not find in a large tour group.
I went on the Chopta/Tungnath trip and had the most wonderful experience. The mountains are so beautiful, I cannot explain. I, 26M, shared the trip with a mum and daughter aged 66 and 31, 2 guides and a driver also accompanied us. The company only takes a max group size of 4 which creates a intimate atmosphere where everyone’s needs can be met. The driver was excellent and I felt remarkably safe as he navigated us through the mountain roads. The mum of the family, struggled with some of the inclines and long distance at altitude but with 2 guides for 3 of us we had the liberty to each explore at our own pace, something that would not have been possible in a big tour group. Also, the care and attention with which Ankush, our primary guide, took care of her was really special. He was so patient, took care of all her needs and guided her through like it was his own mother. He would take food and chai to her room when she was feeling unwell. He looked after all of us with the utmost care throughout the entirety of the trip. A special mention for Dhamander whose good energy and laughter made the journey easy.
Here’s a quick summary of this trip: Day 1: drive to sari village with breakfast, lunch and chai breaks on the way. 3km hike up to lake where you’re given very spacious tents with beds and electricity in them. Watch sunset, eat delicious home cooked food. Day 2: breakfast and begin 16km trek along the ridge - so beautiful with all the rhododendrons - packed lunch on the way. Glacial river you can dip in towards the end. You get picked up on the other side and driven a short way to the Homestay. Comfortable room and also very tasty food. Day 3: leave at 3am to hike to temple (3500m) and summit (3678m) for sunrise, it took me 1.5 hours and then others joined an hour or so later. You then have time to explore the temple area and have your packed breakfast before walking back to the village where chai and snacks will be waiting. You then drive back to sari village and have time to rest and chill, eat more good food and explore the village. Homestay here is very comfortable and will be your first opportunity for warm water. Day 4: breakfast and drive back to rishikesh.
