Josapa Guest House — Hotel in Batam City

Service 1 out of 5 not existent staff. They didn't even know of my arrival day and there was a lot of confusion. Didn't give me instructions on how to check out either as there was no staff over the weekend.

Amenities 1 out of 5 No heater/hot water which was not stated on the website or reviews. Be prepared to shower in ice cold water at night. Completely bare room otherwise. Just a simple bed and mirror. Tv channels doesn't even work. Any channel requires "subscribing" even tho the accomodation website lists it has a working TV.

Comfort 1 out of 5 zero noise insulation in the place. Some but job banged through the hallway on the first night and jolted me awake. There is some yoga class on weekends morning at 7am on the second floor and the noise will wake you up as well.

Location Very poorly located, far away from city centre or anything worth going to in the vicinity aside from the Batam mall opposite the ferry terminal. It's near to get back so good if you get sick of the place and want to escape.

Conclusion I duno how this place gets 4.6*. I'm a solo traveller with very low demands but this place is allround...

Horror Hotel The rooms were located on the third level, no lift, tiny staircase. I had to ask for Towels, and the soap they provided were sample packets. I went and bought my own bottle of soap. Water dispensers are never filled up, even after repeated requests/ reminders. I had to buy my own bottle of water. Toilet has cockroaches. The toilet vent is very noisy. Air Conditioning is weak. The outside environment of the hotel smells like sewers, and is in a dilapidated state. The WiFi from the room is weak at best. The lobby locks at night. There's no housekeeping available. There's no common amenities. The rooms are tiny. The rooms aren't soundproof. The blankets were dusty. There's a fridge in the room but no sockets nearby to plug into. (????) We shortened our 4 days stay to 3 days in Batam willingly because of this place.

It's not a 3 star hotel. It's a 1...

I must say it's in the great location at the Centre of Batam. At the first, maybe you'll probably be confused with the place because it feels so weird neighbourhood, especially at night, but trust me it is a safe place and neighbourhood. They offer best price for a room with the AC and bathroom inside. I got a room with double bed, and got 2 bottles of mineral water every day with bar soap, shampoo, and tooth paste.

The building has 3 floors, 1st floor is lobby and little shop, 2nd floor is yoga room, 3rd floor is for the bed rooms, and there's no elevator, but it's okay for me. The staff is very helpful, they will bring your luggage from lobby to the room at 3rd floor.

Overall it is a nice experience...
