There’s a lot to like about this hotel, but there are also clear areas for improvement.
First the positives: Good price point. Pretty decent location with reasonable transfer times to the airport. Modern, new building with excellent common areas. Nice pool and gym (although see below re. cardio machines in gym). Bedroom was roomy. Very comfortable bed/pillows. Good quality furnishings. Friendly, polite staff.
Not so great:
We ordered room service one night at 9:30pm after returning from a day trip. Nothing special - just 2 meals of satay sticks. It took over an hour and three telephone calls. By the time it arrived we were almost too tired to eat it.
It seems no one carries out maintenance checks on the rooms - some of the curtain hooks had become detached from their runners so we couldn’t close them fully. And the fridge didn’t get cold despite being set to max.
The conditioner and hand soap in the bathroom were either very poor quality or they were watered down. Both had the consistency of water.
Housekeeping forgot to do our room one day, so we had to chase for towels and refills.
Two out of the three cardio machines in the gym were broken. There was a note on the treadmill telling guests to use the gym in the Yello Hotel next door (not really practical when you’re there for a quick workout), but no one seemed to be aware that the cross trainer was broken until I pointed it out.
Wi-Fi had an infuriating tendency to just drop out.
Special mention must go to breakfast. It needs work. The restaurant is large, bright and comfortable. The food on offer is wide-ranging and, on the whole, of good quality. But: The bread and pastries are a crime against humanity. Truly awful. Unfortunately this is common in Indonesia, but it’s difficult to enjoy a breakfast which includes any of the baked products. The toaster was woeful. You need to allow ten minutes to toast a slice of bread. Surely staff must have noticed this? Although all the food stations were manned, they were clearly short of staff every morning (we were there for four days). Usually just one member of staff clearing tables, and there’s about 200 covers. This meant us having to clear and clean a table once we’d found one. Not a great first impression. It was the same story with crockery and cutlery. And yogurt/Yakult (with these I think they just put out a set number and when they’re gone, they’re gone). Breakfast is a busy hotel is make or break time. It does more than anything else to influence guest opinions. So I was surprised that there never seemed to be a manager on duty in there.
Overall, I’d still recommend a stay here. Just be prepared for a bit of chaos in the breakfast room (or arrive...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience given it’s a 4star hotel. I’d like to start from a positive side but unfortunately negative points win the battle. We’ve been in quarantine there for 5 days, for the price you pay (700€ for 2 people, 1 room) you get: A very basic set of meals which repeats as well, few times for dinner we had the same food that we had for lunch. You don’t have a menu to choose from, chef decides what you’ll get. Food always arrived cold. No cleaning service in the room - I remind that you spend a quarantine there which means you don’t leave the room at all and I believe one of the quarantine measures is hygiene; You don’t have trash bins outside the room so everyone just leaves food boxes (not always empty) in a hallway on the floor. They can be there for the entire day; We had dirty towels in our freshly cleaned room so had to ask for the new ones; WiFi connection isn’t good - in our first room the speed got to 2-5mb and it kept disconnecting so we asked to change rooms as we needed to work and well being enclosed in a room for 5 days you’d want to have a normal internet - staff reacted quite fast and offered us another room where connection was slightly better( 9-12mb) Didn’t have a good experience with the restaurant at the hotel as well: it’s almost impossible to reach out - they either don’t pick up the phone or hang up right away. We could only reach them through reception. Restaurant has nice menu and food was quite tasty (this is not the food included in the 700€) but it would take them 1,5h to bring it so we had to call every time and remind about our order and then they would bring it...cold of course; last time we ordered a girl took my order and said it’ll be ready in 30 min, she called back 30 min after and said that one of the dishes I ordered wasn’t available anymore 🙄 I ordered a cesar salad instead so we had to wait for 40 min more and when they brought it I didn’t find any chicken in my salad🤷🏻♀️ so had to call again and wait for 20 more min and instead of a new salad they just brought chicken breast on the plate so I would add it to the salad that was sitting on the table for 30 min already... On a positive note: Staff at the reception and waiters from the restaurant were very friendly and helpful and would react to any request quite fast. Room itself was very good - nice and clean bathroom, very comfortable beds and pillows. The hotel, at least the little part we’ve happened to see, looked very modern...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Vertu, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease, thanks to the friendly and professional staff who clearly know how to make their guests feel special.
One standout aspect of my stay was the impeccable service provided by Ching, the hotel’s Guest Relations Officer (GRO). Ching went above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met, and she consistently offered help with a genuine smile. She greeted me upon check-in and followed up regularly during my stay to make sure everything was perfect. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and warm hospitality truly made a difference and elevated the entire experience. It’s rare to find someone who balances efficiency and friendliness so well, and Ching exemplifies that in every interaction.
The room I stayed in was spacious, well-appointed, and immaculately clean. The modern décor added a touch of luxury without being overwhelming, and the view from the window was just stunning. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and high-quality linens, which made for a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring the city.
The dining options at Hotel Vertu were also fantastic. Breakfast was a treat every morning, with a variety of both Western and local dishes, all prepared to perfection. The restaurant staff were attentive, ensuring that my coffee cup was never empty, and they were always quick to accommodate any special requests. I loved the elegant yet relaxed atmosphere of the dining area, which made breakfast feel like a leisurely event rather than just a quick meal.
I also want to mention the hotel’s amenities. The gym was well-equipped, and the pool area was clean and inviting, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. I didn’t have time to try the spa, but I heard great things from other guests about their treatments. The hotel’s central location made it easy to explore the surrounding area, with many attractions and shopping areas just a short walk or ride away.
In conclusion, Hotel Vertu exceeded all my expectations. The combination of luxurious accommodations, top-notch facilities, and exceptional service, especially from Ching, made my stay unforgettable. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, I highly recommend staying here. You’ll be in...
