KHAS Tegal Hotel — Hotel in Java

We first stayed here back in 2022. At that time, the hotel was decent. probably one of the few proper hotels available in Tegal.

However, during our recent stay on 25 October 2025, we noticed that not much has changed. The facilities feel dated, and the overall maintenance seems to have declined.

During our stay, we ordered two orange juices, one bottle of mineral water, a cup of wedang jahe, one cheeseburger, and one spaghetti carbonara. We waited for almost an hour, but sadly, the spaghetti arrived stale and undercooked. The burger looked fine at first, but despite our clear request for the sauce to be served separately (as it was for the kids), it was still mixed in. The staff had even repeated our request several times, so this was quite disappointing.

The orange juices were also poorly prepared. It was blended together with the seeds, which made them taste bitter. The only thing that turned out fine was the mineral water. Lol

We called the restaurant to request a replacement for the stale spaghetti and the burger. A staff member came to our room to collect them, and about 30 minutes later, they returned with another burger but unfortunately, the patty was soggy and soft, almost like cat food. I called the receptionist, hoping for a better resolution, but surprisingly, the restaurant sent yet another cheeseburger instead of addressing the actual issue.

The next morning, we went for breakfast at the hotel restaurant, but unfortunately, the food was below average.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience. This hotel truly deserves one star and that’s only for the good memories we had back in 2022. It’s sad to see how much potential has gone to waste...

I stayed here for 1 night only, just for transit from Jogja to Jakarta. I arrived late night. It's easy to find, located in main road. Quick check in process. But they only have 1 unisex toilet in the lobby. So you have to queue one by one. I don't think it's a budget hotel because the price not so cheap. If you compare with the same star in Jogja, you can get cheaper and better hotel.||||The room is clean and actually it's comfort enough. Too bad when we check in, they didn't turn on the AC. So we didn't feel comfort when we arrived after long drive and tired. Maybe they think about go green or saving energy, but I think it is standard to prepare the room including keep the AC on. Because it can affect guest mood if the room is hot and they will feel uncomfortable after long trip.||||The a la carte food is pretty good and tasty. But their orange juice is from concentrate not pure orange. Different with the breakfast buffet, not so tasty and less varies. But the cook can make good properly half fried egg. Some waiters is too busy chatting each other or just standing in front of cashier table. They didn't look all around and clear up the dirty plates. I sit beside the pool window and I have to put our dirty plates on the next table. Still they didn't pick it up until we finish our breakfast.||||For me, I prefer Cirebon or Pekalongan for transit rather than Tegal. Maybe just passing by to buy tahu pletok...

Clean rooms including security safe and in-room coffee maker. Good air conditioning. Friendly staff plus easy check in. Great location & comfortable bed. TV has HDMI plug-in and 1080p aspect ratio. Awesome breakfast buffet which increases the value considerably. Small rooms. Shower stall awkward as glass portion allows water to spill out everywhere. Make sure you have plenty of towels handly to sop up water that forms a mini-lake all over bathroom floor. My biggest issue was the WIFI internet went out and nobody seemed to care about fixing after several complaints. Dead for entire day and went out all the time. So if you depend on WIFI for anything important, i highly recommend you stay someplace else. This was highly annoying and frustrating as i was needing internet for job search. Mini refrigerator...
