If you are planning to book a stay here (even for the view), stay away. If you are a travelling agency planning to book a stay here... also stay away. There are lots of nice places down the road a bit further. Maybe you don't have the view but at least you have the basic service and you can drive or walk to the view.

Our travelling agency booked this hotel for one night during our honeymoon. We had a day full of hiking and were very very much in need to a rest and a shower...This wasn't it. We go camping on some very primitive places and had better than this.

The room was abysmal. Everything had mold. The blankets, the bathroom, the walls, ever the kettle had mold in it (if you think you could at least boil some tea here... yeah think again).

The bathroom was dirty and the water was cold. I had to dunk my head in the bucket of water to clean the dust out of my hair. The sink was disgusting and full of mold. There was a gap between the door and the wall, also the window mechanism didn't close. But "no worries" the staff send an "engineer". He wedged the mechanism in so we couldn't move the window at all anymore. Fixed, like we couldn't think of that. The window above the door had no curtains. So all night you had the very bright porch light shining through. There is a nice view on top of the hotel but no benches anywhere in sight. The restaurant wasn't great either. The staff was super cranky and one lady was just really rude. My stomach hurt afterwards I was just happy I had some bananas in my backpack. There were motorcycle drivers in front of the hotel that were pretty shure drunk and high. When you wanted to go out for a look or a picture you couldn't without being approached in a very creepy way! Even my husband was creeped out!

To conclude, this hotel just wants a quick way to earn money and you get no service at all for it. When the slogan for the hotel is something like 'service in a family kind of...

We stayed at Lava View Lodge during our visit to Mount Bromo, and while the accommodation is very basic (as is the case with most lodges in the area), the location and views make it worthwhile – with the right expectations.||The location is definitely the highlight. You’re right on the edge of the Bromo crater area, and the view from the terrace or even the garden is truly breathtaking . However, be aware: it gets extremely crowded around sunrise, as pretty much everyone staying in the area flocks here to catch that iconic view.||The rooms are very basic and not particularly clean. The bathroom, in particular, could use some attention – the shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with no real in-between. But honestly, you don’t come here for luxury. It’s all about the experience and proximity to the volcano.||The restaurant food was mediocre – not terrible, but nothing to write home about. That said, they serve cold Bintang, which helps after a long dusty hike or jeep ride.||A tip for future visitors: If you can, visit Mount Bromo itself before checking into the hotel – preferably in the late afternoon. Most tourists go right after sunrise, so you’ll have the crater and surrounding area almost to yourself. It’s a magical experience without the crowds.||Also, bring warm clothes – temperatures drop significantly, especially before sunrise. If you didn’t pack for the cold, don’t worry: local vendors walk around the lodge selling hats, gloves, scarves, and even blankets.||Final thoughts: Lava View Lodge is not about comfort, it’s about location. Go with the right expectations and you’ll have a memorable stay. The views alone...

-7.926280, 112.966937 Hotel Lava Lodge View caters to a specific type of tourist and meets their specific needs: sunrise viewers and hikers for Bromo volcano. But the journey to the hotel Lava Lodge View requires a powerful 4WD. If you want to see the sunrise, you need to hire a jeep with a local driver. At least a thousand tourists watch the sunrise at various vantage points, so a whole industry has sprung up. It is more Disneyland than lonely planet on a mountaintop watching the sunrise, with jeep drivers, horse rentals, souvenir sellers, restaurants, mobile cafes & toilets. You have been warned, but if you accept this industry, the view and hike is worth it.||In September 2023, room S09 is simple and sufficient for one night. Twin beds, hot shower and warm bed. No idea why this room needs television. Wi-Fi-reception is slow and constantly disconnects. Forget. With a captive crowd, continental and Indonesian breakfast after sunrise and hiking is better than expected. The same goes for the dinner with fuyunghai (Rp35K) and vegetable soup (Rp25K) the night before. ||Lave View Lodge offers adequate accommodation for one night....

I‘ll start with the negative -bad wifi, feels basically like it doesn‘t exist cuz it‘s so bad -very stinky smell from the bathroom like VERY HORRIBLE -dirty water and the heater which actually works BUT will make a really annoying sound which we heard through the WHOLE NIGHT! So u won‘t get a lot of sleep either but that doesn‘t matter cuz ur already awake at 2 am for the Mt Bromo hike. -light outside were always on, couldn‘t turn them off what also shitty -and then there are people trying to get in ur room, which is kinda scary, don‘t know if the got the wrong room or tryna rob you. Fortunately u have a key so ALWAYS LOCK UR DOOR. But now to the Positive things -finally checking out - I have to say this Hotel only survives cuz it has an amazing view of Mt Bromo and the volcano but yea that‘s really it This hotel is enough for a backpacker but to expensive for a backpacker so be SMART and choose something better

Don’t be fooled by the other reviews. This hotel is dreadful and the only thing going for it is that a small subset of rooms have an actual view (mine had a view of the car park). The room itself was horribly dated, and the bathroom did not work (the hot water system did not function and in any event the water pressure was abysmal, so the only option to “shower” was to splash cold water from a bucket on yourself). I stayed here specifically to be well placed to get up early for the view (and thus go to bed early) but there was something that sounded like a KTV adjacent to my room. To be fair, the roof kept the rain out and the sheets seem washed, and I don’t have a reference point as to what other places are like up the top of the hill, but do not expect anything other than a v basic place to sleep.
