We stayed two nights in CAMESSA HOTEL and we had room #2. So our feedback is on the hotel in general and room #2. Good points: +Nice pool +Good food +wide room +ocean view Bad points: -Multiple Blood on the mattress -Bathroom smells like sewerage (They installed a room fragrance to cover it, but doesn‘t work) -Water tap was broken -Light switch was broken -Mold in the bathroom and some furnitures -AC is not working like it should (Temperature is not cooling down the whole room) -Bed is squeaking like hell with every movement We got no feedback on our messages which we send after the first night to the management. During the checkout after two nights we had intense discussion with the receptionists and the owner. They didn’t want to understand the problems and were arguing with lots of guests and missing staff. But these problems are the result of years without any kind of maintenance. Maybe the pictures will tell more about the hotel. Fairness we have to say, that at the end the owner gave us a discount for our nights. So in total, our experience with this hotel was a total disaster.

UNBEATABLE VALUE FOR MONEY, OFFERED WITH A SINCERE SMILE I cannot fault this little gem of hotel. Stayed in a Standard Room which made the impression it was recently refurbished. The bedroom is beautiful, while the bathroom had better days but hey, hot water and pressure were both full on, so what else you want? For the price you will not find a better place to stay in the area. The Standard Rooms offer a HUGE (about 40 sqm) terrace where you look straight onto the beach, Mount Agung and have your own observation deck for sunrise and sunset. All my pictures were taken from the terrace or right in front of the hotel. BONUS point if you like to snorkel, one of the best reefs is right in front of the hotel. Enter straight and snorkel / freedive your way towards East, and you will enjoy a long stretch of fantastic underwater world. Thank you Pak Mandu, Ibu Nyoman and all the other amazing staff, I had a great time and will be happy to stay with you again whenever my travels lead me back to Amed. Stay well!

Lovely friendly staff and housekeeping. Okay breakfast but no western coffee, only Bali coffee. We stayed in room 7 on the top (3rd) floor, lots of steps and no lift so not suitable for those less mobile. The view was to die for, but that’s the only stand out to be honest. The shower leaked, the toilet seat was broken, the wall dispensers for body wash and shampoo were broken and the towels were dingy. There was a dreadful smell coming through the bathroom drains as the lower floors had their evening showers. The lovely deep pool was a welcome relief but the light fixture was broken. I feel the whole place needs some attention to detail and investment in minor maintenance, like most places here to be fair. The gardener tended the grounds well and the pool area was pleasant. Overall we loved the view from the room and the great location for amazing snorkelling on your doorstep, but manage your expectations.

The thing about Camessa is, it's not fancy. But it's cheap! And for the price you get fantastic views over Amed Beach and some of the best snorkeling right out the front of the hotel. We got the top floor suite which had incredible sunset views of the volcano. It was a huge room with big private balcony. The staff were super friendly and accomodated all of our requests, very helpful organising laundry and driver also. The food from the restaurant was a bit hit and miss, but generally good. The pool was a bit suss as (like other Bali pools) I didn't notice the filter or cholorine being used, and it was being filled straight from the garden hose. There is easy swimming right out the front on the beach. Walk just 50m towards Cafe Bobo and jump in for incredible, clear water and a huge array of tropical fish and even sea turtles! Clean beaches with no rubbish. There are heaps of little warrungs to eat in walking distance, but for more higher end restaurants you need a scooter or have a driver to take you to one of the other beach areas. Another review remarked about the wave noise - on our first night the swell was quite high so we did notice the beach was quite noisey (although we didn't mind), however this was a full moon and may have just been the tides, because the rest of the trip it was just a lovely gently lapping of the waves. More disurptive was the live cover band from WaWaWeeWee (sp?) a couple of nights a week which went quite late. Hey, but if you like contemporary rock classics, just head down for a Bintang...

I stayed at Camessa for 3 nights (July 2020). DO NOT STAY HERE. The pool and outdoor seating area is actually quite nice — literally right on the beach. However, this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Bali. The room was smelly (like sewage), the breakfast was horrible, but the worst part was the service. For example, the staff suggested we just keep the windows open to fix the smell.

The banana fritters were stale. The banana pancakes were under cooked. There was a problem with the plumbing so the sewage smell would just waft through your room even with the bathroom door closed. The room next door had the same issue.

The bed was broken. The main cross beam was broken in half. Someone had tried to fix it with some wire (like from a coat hanger). We had to take the mattress off and sleep on the floor.

So the smell, the bed, and the food were all horrible, and the bathroom was not very clean, but to add to that the customer service was worse. All the staff would say is “we are sorry and we will call the owner.” But they did not offer to fix anything, or offer a free breakfast or anything to try and make it better.

Looking now I see there are similar reviews of this place from 6 months ago. The owner has responded to those reviews saying they would fix the issues. Clearly they have not. There are so many options in Amed. This one is...
