We planned a two days stay in Nusa Penida and Ocean Terrace looked from the pictures online an amazing place to find some relax in the amazing island of Nusa Penida. However, things started very bad from the very first moment. Why? If you want to get in contact with the hotel, be aware that this is a hard task that will prove your nerves. They completely ignore messages sent through booking, no email address can be found online and they hardly ever answer to the phone. After 3 painful days chasing them for an answer, we finally managed to book our transfert from the harbour to the hotel. Once arrived at the harbour, drivers of other hotels were there waiting for their guests with signboards indicating their name, but nobody was waiting for us. We contacted the hotel and they told us the driver was on his way and would have arrived in a few minutes. FALSE. After 30 minutes we were there still waiting and we decided to take a taxi. To give you the sense of how terrible this service is, it takes only 10 minutes by car from the hotel to the harbour, so from the time we contacted them, there would have been sufficient time to go back and forth three times. Finally we arrive at the hotel and you would expect the staff to apologize for what happened. NOT AT ALL. They seemed annoyed by our reasonable complaints and treated us sufficiently.||Coming to the hotel, the building and the bungalows generally look nice, although quite outdated and for sure not “luxury” as the name hotel seems to suggest. Some refurbishment work would be required, but overall you could live with that and enjoy the nice view over the bali sea. ||The problem stays again with the services, as the floor of the rooms are quite dirty, television does not work and there is not sufficient hot water for two people. ||As to the breakfast, we had a tour starting at 8:00 am and were informed by the staff that we had to place our order the evening before. We were allowed to chose only one hot drink and one plate. For sure this was not the big buffet that we saw mentioned in a few comments, but rather a quite humble breakfast.||Overall, this is definitely not a 4 stars luxury hotel. The hotel is in a nice position, looks quite nice and cozy but would definitely need some refurbishment works. Staff and services were very disappointing and we would therefore recommend looking somewhere else to enjoy at your best this...
Read moreThe staff are loverly and very helpfu and this review is not aimed at them at alll. We checked in and waited in the sweltering heat why they prepared our room?. Eventually we were shown to a little villa.|| We unpacked and settled in. Half an hour later we were asked to pack everything shift to another villa as this one was owned by someone else? She meant the villa's were privately owned, and the owner of our villa we were staying was not paid for our visit.. We moved into a somewhat downgraded room same size just not as nice, a downgrade. ||||I explained we we annoyed at the muck around and they returned with juice. ||||What we didn't realise is due them being privately owned the owners paid for such normalities as toilet paper and water bottles and they were charged by the Ocean Terraces for what we used. So we were rationed to one toilet roll 2 little bottles of water and 3 sachets of coffee. We are a couple so this was frustrating. ||||It is annoying when you are staying in advertised luxury spa that you have to do this and ask for what you should be included in the price. ||||The air conditioning was also on a budget has it seemed set to about 26 and wasn't cool at all. The kettle didn't turn off and before we realised that had almost boiled itself dry as we were outside talking. The shower is outside and very pleasant however its on round pebbles/rocks, so we ended up wearing Jandles/flipflops/thongs to avoid stone bruises, ||||The web says it has a restaurant it does. Its closed due to covid so we ended up walking 10 minutes each way for meals. Not ideal in the rain or dark as there are no street lights or taxi's||||Breakfast was great and the food was very good. ||||If it wasn't for the fact we felt we were staying in a glorified back packers we would have been ok, we would have bought our own water and toilet paper. ||||There are a lot of accomodation on the island , we will be trying another next time we visit. Sorry but we cannot...
Read moreStaff: Very helpful and friendly staff! Since I myself did not want to go with scooter or car on Nusa Penida, the staff has always organized me a reliable driver / tours even at short notice.
