Upon arrival to the Como Uma property it was very pretty. I was very excited to stay here based on the photos online. I chose this over several other options even though it was certainly much more expensive. The rooms are a bit dated and unimpressive. I had gone to brush my teeth and noticed the bottle of water left by sink was already open and drank from. Having just entered the room I had expectations of it being clean, sanitized and given water that hasn't been contaminated by another person. I took a shower and as soon as the water started running the drain smelled awful. The room was small, apparently not clean and generally disappointing.
The hotel itself is extremely noisy. You are perpetually hearing the tinkering of the cleaning crew, slamming doors (as the doors don't close easily and I think people find it necessary to pull them shut which causes a slamming noise) and other peoples conversations.
I went down to have a meal after check in and ordered sparkling water which came out a hot bottle of water. This happened almost every time we ate at the beach club so make sure you specify the temperature of water you prefer. I don't think anyone anticipates hot water when ordering a bottle of water; possibly room temperature or cold but certainly not hot.
The pool is nice but the views of the beach are completely obstructed by the bushes. You can not see the beach which kind of takes away from the point of staying at a property on the beach. They have a mossy, stagnate bowl of water that is suppose to be used to wash your feet once you come back from the beach but it looks very dirty and the more you think about how many people dip their feet in there, the more uncomfortable you get; however there is no other option.
We later had dinner. Around 9:50pm the table lamps were collected and it was clear the staff wanted us to leave. I looked up the hours and it says until 11 pm. I didn't appreciate being made to feel unwelcome especially when their hours of operation says they don't close for quite sometime.
In the morning I went to the gym. The gym is extremely nice and one of the reasons we chose this location. I began my work out and when I needed to refill my water there was an empty refrigerator with no water and and an empty water canteen. It took 20 min for this to be rectified.
I brought all of this to the attention of management and they upgraded our room. I was thankful to change rooms but it's also a hassle to have to do so. The new room was nice but we were awoken at 6:30am by loud slamming noises appearing to come from the floor above. There's no level on the elevator going to the floor above to I'm left to believe there is some sort of staff area up there in which they're carelessly making so much noise it's impossible to sleep.
I went down for breakfast and had avocado toast in which I found larvae in my food. This is just generally unappetizing.
After we came up and tried to take a nap after having be woken up so early and every five or ten minutes you hear a door slamming or a vacuum running or other guests waking down the halls. There is zero sound proofing.
I tried to use the beautiful outdoor shower in our upgraded room but unfortunately the water only runs cold and has no temperature control.
This place had so much potential and so many missed opportunities to make the experience special. They missed almost every time. I don't believe they deserve the alleged 5 star rating they have currently. We stay in 5 stars all over the world and this is worst property donning that title. This is also worst place we stayed in Bali as well as the most expensive. I would advise anyone considering to stay here to look literally anywhere else. It's over priced and extremely...

The hotel is within 10mins walking distance from local shopping / eats (check out Dang! cookies and Naked Bun). The beach also provides access to both left / right sides, which leads towards Seminyak / Tanah Lot respectively.
Ani handled our check-in, and showed us personally to our room, and brightened up the start of our stay with her warmth. Room access is via wireless keycard.
Room was very spacious (with 1x luggage rack), and can easily sleep another 2 more (on the sofas). Kitchenette also means longer stays are more comfortable, including full sized fridge.
All in, it was a very nice stay for us to really chill + relax, especially when exploring Canggu area as well as Tanah Lot.
Pros Amazing jacuzzi, with nice mood lighting Toilet washlet, while not as advanced as Japan version, works well Good water control / temp / pressure (handheld showerhead only) JBL bluetooth speaker in room, with decent soundstage Turndown service was excellent Room came with 4 proper pillows already (not funny fabric cushions masquerading as pillows) Hotel had a proper pilates studio (with at least 2 sets of reformer and other setups), along with Inhouse instructor (reservations required + class fee, 2 pax to start) There was a small, but well stocked hotel shop (managed to buy a baby yak wool scarf from Bhutan there). Hotel serves decent ala carte buffet breakfast in alfresco setting only, choice of indoor or outdoor - they have fresh mixed juices / young coconut water in bottles. The simple bread basket is also very nice - nicely toasted. Overall service is top notch (swimming pool, meal service, hotel lobby, spa, hotel shop), the spa was also very nice (120min COMO Shambhala Skin Detoxifying in Couple Room).
Cons The switches to turn on / off the lights at night is confusing. I was unable to turn on only the toilet light (to go pee at night), and instead had to turn on ALL the lights (as it was pitch black at the toilet side, which is at back of bedroom, no windows). The usb / HDMI outlet near the living room sofa was not working (outlet had words that were upside down). On closer inspection, outlet is already disconnected totally and outlet is just fake front. Rainshower a disappointment, with weak water pressure (due to partially faulty switch lever) Plants adorned the balcony side (external), so creepy crawlies like millipede in the room is not unexpected. Large pool is relatively deep (at 1.5m), not quite ok for kids Near to beachfront, but not so close you can hear...
Read moreThis is a good hotel in canggu but a bit far away from crowd like restaurants or cafe. It's not walking distance to the crowd which mostly at batu bolong area. We stay at direct pool room, it's family of four. The +++ point The staff really welcoming us with warm and friendly and give us plenty of information regarding everything including the room. The room type it's 1 bedroom Lagoon pool residance which are: The room is big big room around 5,5m wide and 15m lenght including the 3m terraces. It came with small kitchen. Light embiance warm and good for relax not too low light but perfect for me. Bed really comfy and soft including the pillow and blanket. Room is clean and they gave me plenty of bottle of water. Bathroom nice clean and water pressure is strong. Bathroom also came with big bathtub so my entire family can jump in all together to enjoy the messages bubble from the tub. Best things for me it's the shampoo and conditioner it has peppermint feel. Refreshing after done shower.
Swimming pool is the best, not too crowded peven the hotel look full maybe because the pool is very huge, i'm guessing it's almost 90-100m length. And the water clean.
I love to sit at terrace facing the pool in the morning, so many birds sound and beach wave sound and also cricket sound. Relaxing and peaceful.
Restaurant view the best for sunset and enjoying the moment with rock close to the beach front.
Gym is big place, clean, comfy area.
The not too negative but still good: Restaurant food don't really like it maybe we had Indonesian food, but if European or western food it's different. I have review for the restaurant.
Beach clean but the sand area for playing around for kids and fot sitting at the beach sand not really good because the distance from border hotel to the water sea it's really close so in the afternoon you can not walk close to the sea because of sea water level up to the border of the hotel. The best still at seminyak beach for me.
Pay attention if you depand on taxi blue bird or online grab or gocar services for transportation, the villages have rule have to use local taxi for going out the canggu area which i don't have any information about it. Better check with the hotel.
Overall I love the hotel. Will come back...
