Read moreOne of the less touristy beaches in South Bali. The water is warm and the ocean here is very nice to swim in, except that the waves here can be crazy! This beach is probably most popular for surfing, but if you are a beginner surfer like me, renting a board here and seeing how you do is absolutely not a good idea. I only made it about 5 minutes of trying to swim out to sea while getting smacked around before I ultimately gave up. My friends who had surfed at least once or twice before fared much better than I did, so if you are at least an intermediate-level surfer, this beach is a great spot to catch some waves.
My only real complaint is how everything is monetized, but that's pretty common at any beach in Bali and many beaches in South-East Asia. There is a small fee for parking, renting beach chairs for the day, using the bathroom, using the shower, and of course renting a surfboard as well as a steeper fair for getting surfing lessons (which I absolutely should have done).
