Maylie Bali Villa & Bungalow — Hotel in Pulau Bali

We stayed at Maylie Bali Villa for 4 days during our time in Canggu. At first glance, the property seems stunning – the beautiful bungalow-style villas are undeniably a highlight. Unfortunately, that is where the positive aspects of our stay end.

Right after check-in, we decided to inspect the bedding, pillows, and mattress for cleanliness and insects. Within 10 minutes, we had to report to the manager that the mattress and pillows were stained yellow, and one of the pillows had black bugs on it. The manager brushed off the issue, claiming that insects are “understandable” because we’re on Bali, and the yellow pillows are “normal” and unlikely to be replaced. After much discussion, clean bedding was finally provided – the only good thing about this situation.

The room itself was far from clean. I encourage future guests to check under the bed – it was filthy, with dirt and bugs everywhere, which clearly indicates neglect in maintaining hygiene.

The worst part, however, came later. On the evening of December 22, 2024, we experienced food poisoning. While we generally avoid blaming specific establishments for such incidents, the circumstances made it difficult to ignore. That day, before the doctor arrived for a house call, I went to ask the security guard for a trash bag. It was then that I saw a large rat walking through the hotel’s open kitchen. I pointed it out to the security guard, who acknowledged it and said he would “take care of it later.” This sight left me 100% convinced that our food poisoning was linked to the meals we had at the property, either on the day of December 22 or the day before.

If anyone doubts my account regarding the rat, I encourage you to ask the security guard who was on duty that day. He was fully aware of the situation and admitted he would address it later.

It’s disheartening to write such a negative review, but I cannot overlook these experiences. The property may try to refute this review, but my account is honest and factual. I urge future guests to think twice before booking a stay at this place.

The stains were caused by insects, and the manager herself said this to another employee—that’s the first point. Secondly, we asked to extend our stay by one or two hours, and the manager replied that it was not possible. Therefore, your response is...

De voyage à Bali avec mon copain, nous devions rester une semaine chez Maylie Bali Villa mais nous y sommes finalement restés 2 mois. Notre séjour a dépassé toutes nos attentes.

Située idéalement dans Canggu, Maylie Bali Villa est à seulement 5 minutes en scooter des premières bonnes adresses pour se restaurer à Pererenan et à 10 minutes des plages principales Eco Beach et Batu Bolong. Un parfait équilibre entre agitation, animation et tranquillité. Quel plaisir de rentrer chez soi le soir dans ce havre de paix avec les bruits de la nature qui nous entoure. De plus, l’emplacement de la villa est idéal pour rejoindre facilement Ubud et ses rizières ou pour aller dans le nord vers Amed, le Mont Batur et Lovina. Dépaysement assuré!

Nous avons séjourné au sein d’une des trois suites parentales de Maylie Bali Villa, qui n’est autre que la villa d’un couple d’expatriés français, Cathy et Alain. On nous a proposé cette alternative de logement car tous les cottages de Maylie Bali Bungalows étaient occupés à notre arrivée et cela n’a pas été pour nous déplaire ! La chambre était équipée d’un espace de travail, d’un grand dressing et surtout d’une superbe salle de bain extérieure (le rêve à Bali!).

Cathy et Alain nous ont chaleureusement accueilli chez eux et nous avons eu le droit à un verre de bienvenue. Nous ne pouvons encore que les remercier pour leur gentillesse, bienveillance et pour tous les conseils qu’ils nous ont apportés durant notre séjour : aussi bien concernant notre sécurité sur les routes, le covid à Bali, que pour nous donner des bonnes adresses de restaurants ou d’hôtels où séjourner lors de nos escapades sur l’île des dieux. De plus, Maylie Bali Villa propose un service de transfert vers et depuis l’aéroport, la location de scooters mais aussi des activités et prestations telles que des massages balinais ou des excursions à la journée en scooter pour découvrir des coins de l’île encore préservés du tourisme de masse. A faire sans hésitation ! Par ailleurs, le petit déjeuner y est délicieux !

Pour finir, le staff qui travaille aussi bien à Maylie Bali Villa qu’à Maylie Bali Bungalows était adorable, serviable et professionnel ! Merci Budi et Desi !

En bref, nous avons adoré notre séjour chez Maylie Bali Villa, aussi bien pour sa situation géographique, pour ses équipements, que pour le staff et les propriétaires avec qui nous nous sommes très bien entendus.

Nous espérons déjà pouvoir revenir...

AHHH Maylie Bali Villa & Bungalows, such a great place to stay at! We stayed here for 2 weeks and would come back in a heartbeat! The location is perfect, 5 minutes away from the husstle and bustle of canggu’s main streets by bike (we once walked it from echo beach although it was a good walking session) i dont understand why some comments are defamotory, they should have 5 solid stars! They offer bike rental directly, the staff is carefull and attentive but not intrusive, they offer massage in their massage hut, the pool isnt big but there are only 4 rooms and a bigger bungalow. The villa has its own private pool.. They also called our grab driver to come for us down the road for us not to carry our luggage up...
