Three weeks of pure enjoyment. Host Andreas and Sari are just fantastic. Genuinely interested in providing their guest with the most comfortable stay one can imagine. ||All the rooms have air-conditioning, comfortable beds; of course your own bathroom and also a small fridge to keep your bintangs, bottle of wine and snacks cool.||Cleaned every day, fresh towels and your bed made. A good choice of breakfast, Indonesian or Continental, freshly made juices, coffee or tea.||Oh yes, there is great swimming pool with sparkling clean water. The pool man test and treats the water at least twice a week and in such a way you can spend time in the water. You won’t come out smelling like a chlorine factory, “really great”.||I should mention, the Puri Dukuh staff is also just marvellous. Always friendly, helpful and smiling in true Balinese style. ||Andreas can give you great advice on where to go and how to get there. You are away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta and Legian, but you can get there in a hop skip and jump. Taxi fare is so little it is something to laugh about. ||Summing it up: Puri Dukuh is a perfect place as a base point on Bali from where you can explore this wonderful diverse island. ||During my stay there were young people, a family with two young children, students and a couple who had returned to Puri Dukuh several times. That tells all, former visitors keep returning and believe me, so will I.||A bonus, it is very affordable. ||My only regret: Three weeks are up, I have to say...
Read moreI have never moved into accommodation where after an hour I've started looking for somewhere else to stay however this homestay meets none of my expectations. When I first walked in the host told me that the swimming pool was broken, which actually meant it was virtually empty apart from a couple of feet of putrid green water. The second thing she told me was that a number of people who had booked recently had taken one look around and left. The room itself is clean and fairly sparsely furnished. The a/c whilst on the coldest setting and maximum fan barely keeps the room cool. The television in the room doesn't function- in that all it shows is a single flat line in the centre of the screen. My room on the second floor, whilst having a shared balcony looks out over the street, which is noisy and busy all day and all night. The owner chain smokes in the courtyard so the room smells of cigarettes. There is no hot water in the shower. The breakfast is basic and even though the menu offers Mie Goreng that don't actually cook or provide it - so just choice of eggs with toast. It is also close to nowhere, you need to catch a taxi to get anywhere from here. The only good aspect is the wifi is nice and strong.|My advice is this is a place...
Read morePD is run by Andreas and Sari, they are a warm hospitable and generous couple who have made a mediocre [ under previous owner ] into a home from home. Rooms are AC, hot water, clean and comfortable, great pool and comfortable relaxation area. Breakfast is plentiful no matter whether you choose the western or local menu. There are several good even very good Warrungs a short walk away and since you are off the tourist drag prices are local Bali, Tidak Parawisata Japan! The other big attraction is that its a mere aud$1.50 by Taxi to say Jl Padma on Legian Road. One of my secret spots, but since I have Balinese 'family' close by to also stay with I am happy to offer this. Oh and the price, check, it's a...
