Saw rave reviews online and thought the steeper price tag i paid for the room will be well worth it, but alas I had a very bad experience with no air-conditioning for my room, plus i was requested to sign a dubious "agreement" asking me not to say anything negative on social media. I booked a Grand Suite Rice Terrace room for 2 nights in April 2017, and checked in in the afternoon. The location is 20 mins away from Ubud centre, and they have free shuttle plying the route therefore do check on the timings to plan your day. The room was spacious, has a very high ceiling and overlooks a beautiful rice terrace. The bathroom was also nice decorated, with comprehensive toiletries provided. However the key drawback of the room (and no respectable hotel rooms should ever be like this) is that the air-conditioning unit is located high up above the room near the ceiling, almost 2-3m above us. When i first stepped into the room, it was already very warm (bearing in mind the surrounding temperature is around 32 degrees), so i switch on the air-conditioning, and left the room for the day, hoping it will cool after. I even draw the curtains to prevent the sunlight from coming in. At 11pm that night we returned, and found that the room was not even at 28 degrees! It was as warm as outside. Attempts to get the butler to fix the air-con did not work, and i requested to change room as having travelled so many countries in my life and staying in over 100 hotel rooms, i've never had such a warm room before. However the service staff refused to change my room for me, until i gave the ultimatum of moving out of the hotel if nothing is done. They then released and upgraded us to a one bedroom villa, which had no issues with the air-conditioning because the ceiling is of normal height. Subsequently the hotel is kind enough to allow us to stay the second night at the one bedroom villa. Breakfast is great at their second floor restaurant and the food is freshly made on the spot. Therefore my recommendation would be to stay in the villas if you really wish to "get away" from the bustle of the city and not to book any of their terrace rooms. And do not sign their "agreement" because everyone should have the freedom of speech to post honest reviews online for the greater good and to inform other visitors as well.

DO NOT STAY HERE. RUINED HONEYMOON. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED with this hotel. DO NOT RISK YOUR TRIP! We flew across the world on our honeymoon and chose this hotel. We booked the One Bedroom Royal Pool Villa room for 3 nights of what was supposed to be the highlight of our Bali trip. (Booked the room directly through their website almost 2 months prior and contacted them one week prior to confirm our stay. Prepaid for one night 2 months prior as well). When we arrived they put us in a totally different room with no private pool, smaller bedroom, and smaller bathroom with no bathtub. The room they put us in was a downgrade amenity and cost-wise. They didn’t even have one night to put us in the room we booked. It definitely put a damper on what was supposed to be a magical stay for our honeymoon. Thank you for ruining the experience of a private villa pool, which we were looking forward to for so long. We wanted a private infinity pool. They said they were “upgrading” us to give us an outdoor jacuzzi, but that is an excuse for not admitting they overbooked the room. If we wanted a jacuzzi, we would’ve booked the room with one. When we said something, they proceeded to show us a dark, smelly, moldy room we could change to (see photos). They handled this situation awfully. Looking back, things were a little sketchy from the beginning because they immediately charged our credit card for the remaining nights and there was some chatter among the staff along with an awkward pause in conversation with us. They didn’t tell us that they were changing our room, we had to shockingly realize it in our own. Again DO NOT STAY HERE…there are plenty of other hotel villas with a private pool. We ended up leaving after one night. We are still shocked and very disappointed they could do this to guests, especially ones on their honeymoon.

A Secluded Retreat with Room for Improvement This resort is located in quite a remote area of Ubud. There’s no real walking path nearby, as you have to leave the property and walk directly onto a main road. If the resort had better dining options, this wouldn’t be such an issue, but unfortunately, the food didn’t meet my expectations. We stayed in Room 707, and I sincerely hope they consider changing the artwork. The painting was too dark and unsettling for a resort setting—I tried my best to ignore it, but it was hard not to notice. Another issue was ordering taxis or food via Gojek. Drivers often demand tips, and if refused, they ask to cancel the ride. This is a serious inconvenience for guests and negatively impacts Puri Sebali’s reputation. The resort should consider running more frequent shuttles or improving its restaurant to reduce guests’ reliance on outside services. That said, the resort itself has many positives. Our room was spacious, and the bathtub was generously sized. The view of the jungle and rice fields was stunning, and despite being surrounded by nature, the humidity wasn’t overwhelming. We stayed on the second floor, and from our terrace, nothing obstructed the view—just pure, untouched nature. The ceiling fan was also a great addition for those who, like me, prefer to avoid air-conditioning. This resort feels completely disconnected from the outside world, making it a perfect place for relaxation. With a few improvements, it could become an even better retreat.

I stayed here recently and although my room and the resort were quite nice there were many issues with my stay that I will list below.

First off the AC in my room was very poor and this caused the stay to be somewhat uncomfortable especially at night when trying to sleep. This was made worse as well due to open sections of the villa which aloud mosquitoes and other bugs into the room all night. There was a bed netting for nighttime but that honestly just made the sleep even hotter due to the poor ac. We even had someone come into the room to check it and make sure it was working and it was in fact working it just didn't do much.

The food was honestly not that good. Outside of breakfast there wasn't anything that had that much flavour or was very appetizing. Me and my fiancee are not picky eaters either so usually the food is fine with us.

Majority of the staff were good other than one of the masseuse ladies who was very pushy and wouldn't stop asking us to get a massage. She even came and interrupted out breakfast one morning and wouldn't take no for an answer for a while.

There was a big issue with one staff member in specific named Felix. He was a shuttle driver for the resort and was extremely inappropriate towards my fiancee and made her and myself feel very uncomfortable. He drove us 2 times and the first time he went very in depth about the hardships of his life and his family and it almost felt like he was fishing for a tip from us. On the second ride we got from him however he was caught staring at my fiancee in the rearview mirror multiple times to the point where she moved into the sear next to me in the middle. After he dropped us off he then followed both me and my fiancee on Instagram which in itself was strange but then he continued to go through my fiancees Instagram and actually liked a post from like 2 years back of a picture of her in a bikini. This was highly inappropriate and obviously we never rode with him again and just blocked him after we caught him staring in the rearview and then following and liking photos of my fiancee. Not only all that but he tried to call our room at the resort later that day after his shift to talk to us for some reason and I said I had no interest to talk to him and that he needs to leave us alone. Felix honestly made the stay at the resort feel off after all that because we obviously didn't want to see him again and he was always around. If you do go here avoid driving with Felix at all costs. He should not be a shuttle driver for this resort. I tried contacting them multiple times as well to speak to a manager before even writing this and...

Our stay at Puri Sebali Resort was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the property, the peaceful atmosphere, and the incredibly warm hospitality.

We stayed in the One Bedroom Garden Pool Villa, and it was absolutely perfect — spacious, beautifully decorated, and completely private. We truly enjoyed our private pool, which was peaceful and refreshing at any time of day, and also made time to relax at the main infinity pool, which had stunning jungle views and was never crowded.

My girlfriend especially loved the morning yoga sessions, and we both appreciated the fast and reliable laundry service. One of the highlights was the floating breakfast — beautifully presented and delicious, it felt like a true Bali bucket list moment.

We also enjoyed a deeply relaxing couples massage at the Andaru Spa and Healing, which left us feeling completely rejuvenated. The treatments were professional, serene, and set in a peaceful atmosphere.

Dining at the Padi Restaurant was another highlight. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and served with a view that made the experience even more special. The service was outstanding across the entire resort.

The Wi-Fi and connectivity throughout the property were excellent — even in our villa, we had no issues staying connected when needed. Plus, the Smart TV in our room allowed us to easily sign into Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube, so we could unwind with our favorite shows and movies after long adventure-filled days.

What truly set Puri Sebali apart was the incredible attention to detail and hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to help celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday with a stunning pool flower display, a bouquet of red roses, flower petals in the bathtub, and a complimentary birthday cake — all done with care and thoughtfulness. It made the trip unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a romantic, luxurious, and soul-soothing stay in Bali, Puri Sebali is the place. We left with full hearts and incredible memories — and we’ll...
