This hotel setting is absolutely gorgeous, set in the forest, with a lovely (and very clean) pool. The grounds are immaculate, carefully maintained, and well care for. The cottages / bungalows are surrounded by nature in a peaceful location. If you love nature, this is it. However, if you dislike all kinds of flying or crawling critters, then it's best to look for another hotel in town. After all, the retreat is surrounded by jungle that many critters call home, and we're invading their territory. The location is also far from town. A scooter is a must or suffer the Ubud traffic congestion if you need a Grab. The cottages are pretty bare, though: a bed, a table, 1 small bedside table, and 1 closet with a couple of hangers. No ornaments, no bedside lights, just the bare necessities, which is very surprising considering it's called a suite, and the regular online price. We got a substantial discount, which made our experience reasonable. But at the regular price, it'd be bad value for money. The bathroom is quite spacious, with a powerful shower and pkenty of really hot water. It also provides shampoo and shower gel. But there is nowhere to set your toiletries around the sink, and the lighting above the mirror is poor. There is also no socket close to the bathroom , so drying and styling your hair is a work of art without the use of a mirror. It is also not recommended for wheelchairs or people with walking difficulties as the stairs are quite high. There is also an open shared kitchen with a small eating area, kept immaculate by the staff. You can cook your meals and make coffee or tea; the hotel also provides a water dispenser. Everything is kept super clean. To summarize: Sanga Suites is a great place for nature lovers who want to relax and enjoy the beautiful environment. The rooms are pretty basic and smell of mold, and the location is rather far from the center, which necessitates transportation, thus facing the horrendous Ubud...
Read moreGde and his family are incredible hosts, so kind and generous. You will be in for a treat and don't be surprised if you're suddenly invited to some amazing cultural event. For the price you won't find much better around the Ubud area. The rooms are large, clean, and stylish. Beds are large, new, and comfortable. Love the high wood ceilings (better than the pics.) The entrance to the property down a short back street is not so visually appealing but once inside you are transported into nice Balinese style and lush natural surroundings. You can even pick fresh oranges off the trees!! There are several papaya trees too. The property also backs up on a jungle stream that Gde is doing an environmental clean up project with. He is very environmentally conscious, a big plus. The amazing breakfast comes with several choices. The local food choices, in particular, came with huge portions and great taste. I also like the town the property is in because it's one of my favorite drives to and from Ubud and the property is just a couple blocks from the night food market which you will not find in Ubud. There you can try all sorts of great street food. Staying there was one of my favorite experiences in...

The hotel is in very beautiful nature surroundings, but a bit far from everything. I don't understand why it's labelled as a 3-star hotel, since the hotel doesn't offer anything besides a basic room and scooter rentals. Booking.com said there was breakfast at the property, which was not true.
The rooms are very dark and small and there are no windows. Sometimes there are power shortage which of course doesn't help (but shortages are common in Bali). We also stayed one night in a bigger room with windows. Unfortunately there was a big cockroach in the bathroom and the sink had a pipe instead of a tap.
You must have a scooter to get around in the area (you can rent at the hotel). Grab is also a possibility, but Gojek didn't work for us since the drivers didn't want to drive that far.
Perfect place if you want a cheap room in nature surroundings. Staff is friendly. But would not stay for longer than...
