This place is AWFUL! Do not come here. If you do, only for drinks. I was VERY disappointed with the slow, unfriendly service. The servers speak very little English and had zero patience for us while we used google translate to communicate. We ordered mushroom dimsum and they served us mixed miscellaneous seafood dimsum with “small pieces of mushroom” and refused to recognize that it’s not vegetarian and that the waiter lied about it being just mushroom. The manager was so rude to us about this. It turns out that our server got orders wrong for almost every single table but refused to accept his mistake.

If you’re really hungry, don’t bother coming here because I promise you will wait 20 minutes to be served one dish at a time. They bring out all the dishes you order separately. My partner finished their entire meal before they served me anything more than coconut rice (which is literally just steamed rice with shredded coconut on top...)

Also- so NOT order tacos unless you want a deep friend calzone covered in oil and served with ketchup. All the staff have to do is google “taco” to discover that what they serve is no where near a taco. It was such a waste of money. Very salty, very oily and basically inedible.

The only thing that was manageable was the vegetable friend rice with an egg that had a very bland flavor and balanced out how salty and unpleasant the rest of...

This is not the Losmen Sibayak I stayed at, but I'm reviewing anyway as it's located directly opposite. Tucked behind a travel agent/ money changer/ parcel post/ everything office was an awesome place. There was an extensive menu, great prices, spartan bedrooms, newly renovated bathrooms and hot water (essential, and often non functioning at most places I stayed in the highlands). Bu Ningsih was an absolute machine! Cooking, washing, dealing with guests, with a permanent smile on her face and reasonable English. The only downside was how wickedly noisy this place could get in the morning, had children playing in the hall from a too early hour, but I growled at them in Indonesian and they retreated downstairs, so it might be best to get an...

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cockroach in my room, 'nuff said. I've got low standards for guesthouses but i dun tolerate cockroaches in a guesthouse ESP if it's not in a village guesthouse type of house. Toilet has no tap only shower, no hot water on my last 2 days, chair pillow looks like it's not been cleaned for 1000yrs. Kitchen area & entire furnitures in d living room areas look old & dirty. At ard 5+am everyday, the muezzin will hv LEVEL 10 islamic recitations for the morning prayers. U will not be amused at...
