I've been coming to the Bush Hotel for many years at this stage. It changed owners last year so was concerned that standards might drop. On a visit earlier in the year it seemed that the hotel was, in common with the majority of the hospitality sector, struggling to get staff so there was a slight wobble in the service level in the restaurant. That had me go the the other large hotel in town for a couple of visits but I have to say that the rooms in that hotel were not as comfortable or suitable for working. The rooms in the Bush are spacious and well lit - the desk area has local lighting as well so it's very easy to get work done. Beds are very comfortable - the mattresses were brand new - and all beds have USB charging points next to them. The room had a, decent sized, Android smart TV which meant that I was able to cast to the TV from my tablet and phone (Netflix etc. are available on the TV if you want to sign in). Breakfast was very good with hot and continental options available. There are two EV changing points available in the hotel car park (I was originally told there was a - very reasonable - charge for these but on checkout I was told that they were free for guests - either way it represented excellent value) - a service that a surprisingly large number of hotels still fail to provide. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the visit and will, most certainly,...

Stay away. Freezing cold and bad service! I’m staying in the room at the moment because the boiler is broken in my house so to keep my kids warm. This hotel room is freezing cold. I checked in after 8PM hoping to get warm. It feels like the heater had been off for a while even though it’s December! I rang reception from the room, at first, he said he would send someone to have a look. But no body came. So I rang the reception once again then someone picked up the phone but clearly put it down not to answer. I tried at least 6 times just in case it was a mistake. but it was exactly the same. I could hear people talking in the background but nobody was answering. I rang the hotel with my mobile then the guy at the reception did answer. When I explained him that the room is still freezing, rather than saying sorry, he said “you’re not the only one!”. This makes me suspect that the boiler was turned off for the guests whose bills are paid by the gov… I really hope not! He navigated us to take the stairs to go to our room on the 2nd floor while there is a life just on the corner and we were carrying lots of stuff with two young kids - one on my sling

The boiler has been on for more than an hour but the room is still freezing. I have my thick socks and jacket on but still very cold! This icy cold room with lukewarm water for shower costed €119 per night. I can’t wait to get out of here first...

Having spent a wonderful 3 night stay at The Bush Hotel, I have to compliment all staff and owners too for their excellent work. My room at the back (one of the "newer" rooms) had a very nice view of a well maintained garden. It was very quiet and relaxing. It was clean, comfortable and with the window open on my arrival, it was spotless clean and it felt fresh. All the staff work very hard and diligently. They are very attentive and not overbearing. I introduced myself to the night doorman on the 2nd night, and he even greeted me by my first name on entering for my 3rd night! These small but significant touches are important and sadly missing in some of the more modern hotels. As this definitely a much older hotel, it's history is clearly documented throughout on its walls and is quite fascinating. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it. I definitely will be back as this experience was more in tune with my preferences and having also stayed in the Landmark multiple times, the Bush Hotel is now my top choice for Carrick-On-Shannon. The attached photo shows the bedrooms at the rear of the hotel.

Had a lovely visit to Bush Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a twin room and plenty of room for the two of us, with extra seating and a bistro table too. The bathroom was a good size with a good shower. Breakfast was very nice, with a continental option and choice of hot options. The bacon and avocado toast and the scramble were lovely and nutritious options and the full irish is excellent value for money. I enjoyed the fresh cut fruit, yoghurt and granola options. They also offer homemade soda bread and muffins which are lovely (muffins with a topping of jam are delightful). Good location to visit other areas and some nice bars/restaurants in the town too.
