Our family stayed here for an overnight in the family room, which was pleasantly extremely large for us more than what we’re used to.
Large king size bed, a daybed and a pullout sofa bed with two TVs. We requested a bottle of wine and some box of chocolate when we arrived and they were very welcome treat after a long drive. Beds were super comfortable. I was most thrilled with the fluffy large towels that actually covered my entire body. We were all very happy for those. I wanna give those towels a shout out cause normally I’m stuck with very small towels and this was the first time one was a full bath sheet.
Our room came with a Dyson hairdryer and it was the first time I’ve ever used one and I have to say I’m tempted to purchase one after trying to here in the hotel.
Front office check-in staff was extremely pleasant. They were nice to work with. Had one of the most excellent dinners we’ve had in a very long time here at the Blue Haven. One of my children raved about the seafood chowder all night and all next day he continued to talk about how great the seafood chowder was. I had the vegetable soup and the small Caesar salad and that was plenty of food for me. I absolutely enjoyed it. The salad was super crisp. The dressing was spot on. It was marvelous.
Our family shared most of the desserts together, sticky, toffee pudding, the giant sundae, the jelly and ice cream it was so good. It was plenty. We enjoyed every last bit of it. To top it off, they had live music and that was an absolute treat to listen to while we ate.
And the Blue Haven Hotel continue to outdo themselves with breakfast the next morning. The full Irish was wonderful, the scrambled eggs, divine, and the French toast. My kids loved it. We absolutely love this hotel and the food here it was amazing. Highly recommend recommended to anybody...
Read moreA very mediocre Sunday Lunch here recently not helped by one of the glummest waitresses I've experienced anywhere in a long long time, but more about her shortly. The restaurant was buzzy but not over busy, I ordered a bowl of mussels to begin, DELICIOUS. Huge portion very nicely presented. Then the Fish (in beer batter) and chips. This was most disappointing, the fish was fine if the batter was a little greasy but the two elements that I enjoy most with this dish, mushy peas and tartar sauce were very very bad. Tartar sauce over-acidic and the mushy peas tasted vile. The accompanying basket of fried were luke warm. My friend had fish pie and said it was good. After our starter we waited 25 minutes for our mains. Yes, we did politely ask for an update at one stage, and it was handled extremely badly.
The waitress, her initials are MF, is in need of a good talking to and a large dollop of Customer Service training. From the moment we entered to the minute we left there wasn't a smile or even the teeniest morsel of welcoming banter. No "Hello - How are you" or "Sorry for the long delay", or "Is everything OK" or "Thank you and goodbye" I would describe her as dull and sullen, at the very least. My less than good main course would not have tasted as bad had their been some attempt at good customer service. It was not a pleasant Sunday lunch experience, we did not leave a tip, and based on that experience I would not...
Read moreWe stayed for a night and the service we received was exceptional. We stayed in the King Suite and I have to say, the room was immaculate. We had dinner in the evening, we had the chicken liver pate to start and the burger and seafood curry for mains. The chicken liver pate was delicious, the presentation was amazing. The burger was so tasty and the portion size was perfect. They accommodated my mums coeliac disease without hesitation. We had gotten gluten free bread and gluten free burger buns and safe to say, she loved it. I had the seafood curry and it was full of flavour. The sauce was delicious and the way it was presented was also lovely. The staff were so accommodating, and kept checking in with us, which I truly appreciated. We then had a peppermint tea and iced coffee to finish the evening. I had a shower and the water pressure was great. The bed was so comfy and the room was spacious. They had a Dyson hairdryer in the room which I loved! We then went down to breakfast the following morning. We had the eggs Benedict and the granola and yoghurt and gluten free toast. The eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection. The gluten free granola was delicious, and again, both were very well presented. The staff were so lovely and kind. The check-out process was simple and efficient and the receptionist was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend to stay here, especially since it’s located right in the...
