So to start with, this is not going to be a good review. I wasn’t going to do this but I’ve had a few days to think about it and I think I need to get this off my chest. We had booked a table for 3 on June 29th to celebrate our daughter finishing her leaving Certificate and to be fair, the courtyard was nice, the service and the food was absolutely fine. The problem started when I ordered the Irish coffee cheese cake and 3 spoons in I felt what turned out to be broken glass in my mouth. I think I may have swallowed a couple of very small pieces but I got the main piece out and discretely showed it to one of the waiters. Now accidents happen, it’s how you deal with them is what seperates the wheat from the chaff. Someone came to our table and told us they had figured out why there was glass in the dessert and I wouldn’t be charged for it. After my wife spoke to the manager, he decided not to charge us for our drinks, a half caraffe of wine and a Coke. About €17. After paying the bill, we left. Now the white house has a number for us and up until now have made no effort to contact us to enquire as to my state of well being or even my mental state. On the night I had gotten a bit of a fright but was thankful I had dodged a bullet and was going home instead of to A+E. Now that I’ve had time to think, I’m quite disappointed at the casual attitude of the White house to something as serious as this. We probably won’t be back, but I wouldn’t want people to avoid the White house because of our experience. Just don’t order a Dessert that comes in the jar with the...
Read moreFrom the moment we entered the building, we were greeted warmly and felt very welcome. We were given our key and directed to our room. On entering our room, we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, very welcoming and had everything we needed. A kettle and tea/coffee, a fabulous hairdryer, an ironing board, iron, TV, lovely shower and the comfiest beds. |The only criticism is that the room was slightly too warm for my liking even with the window open. |We heard the music from outside but we visited Kinsale for the Jazz festival so it was understandable and quite nice that we could chill out in our room and hear music too!|Breakfast was plentiful and hot and the service was faultless. |We enquired at reception about the bus service back to Cork airport and the receptionist was very helpful, even allowing us to store our cases in the back restaurant until we left Kinsale. |Would definitely return and certainly recommend.|We followed an English function band called Loose Change. Absolutely amazing. 7 gigs over 4 days! Brilliant musicians, knew their audiences and how to get them engaged. Haven’t danced so much in years. A...
Read moreWe had a five star evening at the White House. My sister, my brother-in-law, and my 4 year old niece popped in for dinner. At first we were the only people in the dining area (we were early, others came in later) but because the dining areas are separated by different rooms, we didn't feel like we were in a cold, empty place, it was cosy and inviting. The staff were friendly; a colouring sheet was brought for my niece , and the waitress even offered to bring a high chair for my niece's baby doll, who had to join us for dinner too. A kind thoughtful gesture, I thought, as my niece's baby doll is important to her. We only had main courses, but a lovely fresh dark bread was brought to the table while we were waiting. My brother-in-law had the plaice special, which he said was delicious, my niece had a pizza, which she enjoyed, and my sister and I both had the vegetarian Beatnik burger, which was a beetroot and cauliflower burger with curry mayonnaise; it was absolutely outstanding, very flavourful. There was several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I would be happy to...
