Hamlets Bar + Kitchen — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Bandon-Kinsale

The restaurant and the correct food we did receive was lovely but very disappointed with the service in general. Myself my husband and two friends had lunch here today Saturday, it was busy enough but I wouldn’t say they were run off their feet. The girls serving were very nice and took our order promptly, however when the food started coming out there was at least 5/10 minutes between each persons food. I understand that as it was cooked it came out but the first person to receive there food was finished by the time the last meal came out. Too top it off , my friend had ordered gluten free fish and chips. When it arrived at the table it was a kids fish and chips (very obvious at it was clearly a kids plate with animals on it) he said what he had ordered and the server left the table with the kids meal to talk to a manager. On return the server told us it was a gluten free fish and chips. When we had finished our meal and asked for the bill , our original server realised what had happened and the mix up in the order. She came to our table very nervous , explaining the mistake she had made but that she would have to charge us for the kids meal. It wasn’t her fault at all but to be honest I would not be back as my friend left very disappointed and still hungry. And from what I could see management did not want to...

Food was fantastic, fresh. But …. The Service was slow. Restaurant was empty and the music was blaring excessively loud. Asked politely for it to be turned down - only for it to be turned up once our food arrived -is music for staff or customers?!?i had to make a second request for it to be turned down again. it turned down second time - was met with very disappointing response from staff. Team has potential but lack of leadership from manager in light blue shirt. Manager needs to give more support to staff , role model good customer care. Zero table service only at the end. When stafff came to take our plates when we weren’t finished. I am due to be in kinsale for business meetings next few months won’t be coming back. It was such a negative service experience I’d sooner eat in the car!

We had the absolute best evening at Hamlets. With our large group we got the garden area out the back of the pub and it was the perfect venue for a summer evening -- a hidden oasis in the middle of Kinsale. We ordered a ton of food, which was all incredible. Our guests were raving about how tasty everything was. We had actually ordered too much for the number of guests we had, so Hamlets provided takeaway boxes which everyone loaded up as they didn't want the delicious food to go to waste! The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful, and we wouldn't have changed anything about the evening.
