We spent three nights over a weekend at Hotel Langhe. If you require the corporate production line hotel experience don't come here. In contrast the Langhe has an intimate ambience, with friendly professional staff. The customer service is first class.
The hotel is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, and as such it ticked my number one box - it is very quiet.
We had the spacious junior suite which was very pleasant, with a large comfortable bed (the pillows are very flat so be warned). The expansive rooftop wrap-around terrace had views over the vineyards and meadows. Lots of windows provided good light for just relaxing inside on the chaise-lounge reading a book. The air-con was effective, unlike several hotels I have stayed at recently!
The hot water in the shower took its time to arrive but this was a minor criticism overall.
The kitchenette has a full size fridge/freezer, kettle, microwave, coffee maker, and hob.
Breakfast consisted of plenty of the usual Italian components, hot and cold, and one could sit inside or outside in the garden. Once again, the experience was friendly and courteous as opposed to being treated like a product.
One reviewer mentioned the mosquitos - they love me and I saw none. Maybe that is because I use a little mosquito spray when in the open areas. Voila!
Plenty of parking within the property. One can walk to Alba's main square in 20 minutes, and there are bars and a supermarket within 5 minutes walk.
I left Hotel Langhe feeling content and relaxed....
Read moreOur stay was May 3rd-May 5th. We notified the owner ahead of time that we would be driving in from the Milan airport at 2am (our flight was out of Houston, TX) and that we would call when we were about an hour away. Well, turns out we did not leave the airport till around 2am from a delayed flight. My fiance's wifi-calling was not working (we brought a Roaming Man) so we could not notify the owner. We pulled up to the hotel around 4:30am (2 1/2 hours late), and there he was waiting for us! He offered us a glass of wine but he knew we were exhausted and said "We will wait for you for breakfast." And sure enough, breakfast was still waiting on us when we finally awoke (past our alarms). Breakfast was wonderful. I didn't order anything hot (I should have just to try) because all the cold food and fresh juices were already above my expectations (and of course the espresso)! I never got to truly thank him or shake his hand when we departed and I still regret it! He gave us a lot of recommendations for food in the area and we were lucky enough to be there the weekend of Vinum (WORTH IT). Hopefully one day he reads this review and remembers us Texans. I gratefully appreciate...
Read moreGreat experience at Hotel Langhe. My wife and I decided to end our Italian honeymoon by exploring the Piedmont area of Italy - mainly for the wine in the region, and to spend time in a not so touristy part of the country. Alba was the perfect spot to explore Barolo and Barberesco - as it’s right in the middle. ||The hotel is in a perfect spot, out of the Alba town center, but a quick drive, or better yet, bike ride into town. 10 minutes. The hotel provided bikes to use! Highly recommend. ||What sets this hotel apart is its staff, specifically, the owner - Nico. He accompanied us to a store us to ship our wine back to the US. He didn’t have to do this, but offered and it was hugely appreciated. He also gave us a great day road trip recommendation. Thank you! ||Nice pool, spacious rooms and a great breakfast setup. Highly...
