So far - extremely disappointed!!! And I have yet to even arrive! I will change / amend - add - rewrite this review AFTER my stay. Please read entire review.
Amended 7.22.22 Despite being absolutely the angriest I have ever been at any hotel - Ever - I must give credit where it Is due. Did 7 Pines ruin my wedding Anniversary. Yes. Did they cost me thousands of dollars and cause me great inconvenience? Yes. Am I still a little angry / frustrated about 7 Pines canceling on me - and then me spending €15,000 and being forced to stay at a hotel that I did not chose - that is nowhere near a beach. Yeah. BUT - sometimes leadership is about doing what is right when things go absolutely wrong. Vito - 7 Pines General Manager did the right thing and probably the best he could given the timing and circumstances.
Despite canceling our hotel stay 36 hours before arrival due to a problem with the local government and the hotel not being able to open due to permit / paperwork issues - Vito did manage to find us another hotel on a sold out island. We ended up at Li Finestreddi and managed to salvage some of our trip. He apologized profusely. Vito had a hand written card / apology waiting at the new hotel. He promised to take extra good care of us if we come back to Sardinia and give him a second chance. Hopefully that happens.
Original Review: I have traveled 3 million plus miles. I have spent 7,500 + nights in hotels across more than 90 countries. I am a laid back, reasonable, and pragmatic guy. I have seen and experienced most of it! Haha. I can usually just roll w whatever happens.
I spent nearly $30,000 in cash / Hyatt points for my six (6) day stay at 7 Pines Resort in Sardinia. That is A LOT of money!! 7 Pines has changed my room 3x now (Principe Suite / Beach Suite - etc..). I tried to rent a boat through their concierge - they attempted to charge me 500 Euro more than the going / market rate. I tried to book spa appointments but they cannot confirm a date or time… not sure why? I tried to book some dinners and other activities but after the above - I was too frustrated (30+ emails). I just did it on my own.
To be fair / balanced… This is a new hotel. It opens July 15th. There is always going to be some bugs / missteps. I expect that. The effort from 7 Pines staff has been there / kind of…. Maybe…They respond to emails - they seem to care - but their ability to execute - very poor. Unproven. If you have internal issues - fix them behind the scenes. Having spent years traveling all over Italy - things are just always harder, more difficult, and more complicated than they need to be in Italy. No idea why… but 7 Pines has taken this to a completely stratospheric level!
When you book / visit a premier iconic 5 star resort and you spend $30,000 for a week - you expect SIMPLE details to occur. Give me the room I booked and paid for. Confirm the day and time for a spa appointment. Help w dinner reservations. Plug me into the local network for activities and experiences. Help me celebrate my wedding anniversary. NONE of this happened so far.
I don’t care how much money you make or spend. What your status is. Everyone is a customer. We want and need the same basic things. Honesty, integrity, ethics, and fairness. We want value and what we pay for. When a hotel fails to deliver the most basic snd reasonable expectations - it is a cause for significant concerns. 7 Pines - you must do better. This...
Read moreI will start this review by complimenting the majority of the staff at the hotel which were friendly and accommodative. However, we unfortunately encountered some frustrating issues. After speaking to reservations, I booked a “Laguna Suite” which I was told was private and quiet. When we checked in, I was surprised by the fact the “Laguna” was effectively a swimming pool, and the only windows and front entrance to the suite (all of 420 sq ft divided into two rooms) looked out to the laguna which was surrounded by lounge chairs. So much for quiet and private. We then went to reception and asked if it was possible to change the room and were told the hotel was fully booked. I then proceeded to pull up the hotel’s web page and showed the reservation clerk that there were several rooms available including a Sea View Junior suite. After some arduous conversation the reservation clerk told me they could downgrade our reservation to the Junior Suite and that he would get back to me with the room rate differential. After asking for three days the reservation clerk told me the rate was the same, which I told him was ridiculous and showed him on their website that the rate was substantially different. He then told me that since I booked the reservation using cash and points it was up to Hyatt Corp to determine the rate differential. Frustrated with reception’s lack of assistance I contacted Hyatt Europe directly who advised that they would “investigate” the matter but then proceeded to go silent. When we checked out the front office manager intervened and offered a partial credit as an interim step until Hyatt got back with an appropriate amount. After still not hearing back from anyone one week after we checked out I reached out to a SVP at Hyatt corp. in the U.S. who had a member of her team promptly contact me with a proposed settlement. Why it took a hotel company almost two weeks to recalculate a rate and only after numerous phone calls and emails is beyond me. The hotel sits on a large property overlooking the sea, however the ocean is only visible from a few public areas including the reception desk and formal breakfast/dinner dining room. In our Junior Suite Sea View (330 sq ft divided into two rooms) the ocean was not visible at all from the interior and had obstructed ocean views from the small patio out the front door. It appears that the way the hotel is constructed many of the rooms that face the ocean have obstructed views. The hotel has a formal dining restaurant (where they also serve breakfast) which we did not visit for dinner. The breakfast buffet is well stocked with a variety of foods. It also has two casual restaurants, one by the pool and one by the ocean. Although we intended to try these we decided to pass after looking at their extremely limited menus. The one by the ocean has an outdoor bar which has great ocean views but the restaurant that is attached is set back a bit and the way it is constructed it sadly doesn’t take good advantage of the ocean setting. The hotel grounds are well manicured, and it has a great location, a very short distance from Baja Sardinia. It has a private beach which was frequented by families with kids, a large pool area, a small gym, and some sports courts. Overall, I would say we were disappointed but depending on your needs it has both positives...
Read moreI had to leave a review for how truly incredible this hotel and staff has been to our family.
So many wonderful things about this place. The stand our situation had to be while I was driving with my 2 year old to the boat harbor for a 8 hour excursion, the tire pressure light came on. I parked to see a flat tire. My husband had to go back to the US for an emergency so I was solo. I never handle these things. I called the hotel and they send someone down to come and replace my tire!!! ANGELS. I returned after 8 hours to a completely replaced tire and car ready to drive. They assured me they would handle and told me they just wanted to ensure I had a good time on my boat tour. I’m just really grateful. They turned a situation that would have brought me to tears (from stress) to a completely stress situation that did not even phase me. I believe Frederico is the man who handled the situation for me. Luna and Antonio coordinated this so I could enjoy myself on the boat tour. Thank you so much!!
We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. They had a delicious and large cake waiting in our room. They set the entire room up to be child friendly- step stool for sink, small potty seat and child robe! It made us so comfortable to have those extras and really thoughtful of them to do that. It made us feel very welcome with our child. Not all hotels are as welcoming to children, they went above and beyond. They also threw my daughter a surprise birthday party at the kids club!!! Which was the cutest and most thoughtful thing a hotel has ever done. She was so excited and had a blast. Their kids club is wonderful. Large with everything any child could want from indoor play to outdoor play. Can’t rave enough about how wonderful it was to be there with kind people to your child.
The staff were truly amazing. They were so nice, friendly and accommodating. They remembered us and our daughter by name. They were so helpful.
The room was very comfortable. The towels were so fluffy. That’s my judge of a good hotel- the towels. They were huge and soft. We wanted for nothing. Everything was so comfortable. Water was readily available which is very nice.
The food was truly delicious. We arrived in between times of their restaurants being open but the guest relations manager ( I am so upset I can’t remember her name and don’t want to put the wrong one, she is blonde and Australian) asked Capogiro to make a butter pasta especially for my daughter as they knew she was hungry. I mean. So kind! Thank you so much to the guest relations manager who did this for us. She also coordinated the surprise birthday party. I’m sorry I can’t remember your name. You made this such a special trip. Also, the butter pasta was the best butter pasta we’ve ever had haha we had to try it. The breakfast spread is so wonderful. High quality options and huge variety. Made to order hot egg and sweet dishes. We went on to 2 other hotels in Sardinia after this and no other place compares.
The view and beaches on property are stunning. The facilities are top of the line. This hotel is truly great value for your money. I am a picky hotel person and I hope to come back someday soon. Thank you for the whole 7 pines staff for making us so comfortable and making it a...
