Restaurant Franco Pepe is located on the 7 Pines resort. We had drinks in the cocktailbar with a very nice ocean view and afterwards we went to the restaurant. It’s located near the pool and has a beach vibe kind a style. The staff is friendly and we had a warm welcome. Franco Pepe has a Netflix episode on chef’s table (pizza edition) and renewed the Margherita pizza. We pre ordered the pizza that has 5 different slices (tasting menu). Pizza was excellent but pizza stays pizza and paying 75 euro for a pizza and dessert, 8 euro for a bottle of water and 18 euro for a glass of wine is very steep. You don’t get a amuse or extra dish. The disappointment we had was that we got the fried pizza slice solo but the other slices were paired. Pizza is best eaten very hot (right out the oven). If you serve two slices the second is cold before you can enjoy it. For this kind of money it would be nice to pay more attention to this kind of details. I think the problem is that Spazio is on 7Pines, guests usually spend a 1000 euro per night. They really don’t care how it is served. It’s just high price pizza, right? Within a hour we were outside 220 euro lighter. Was it worth it? Absolutely not but it was something I wanted to do. Nobody in Italy pays 30 euro for a Margherita pizza, only in...
Read moreThe location is exceptional and the service is of a very high standard. We enjoyed it a lot!
However, when expectations are very high for the pizza chef's name and reputation (we already visited Franco Pepe in Caiazzo, Napoli), perfection is expected. The pizza (Margherita Sbagliata) was overloaded with mozzarella, to the point that it hardened quickly. The tomato sugo is very bland and lacking of salt, by choice of the pizzaiolo, but in my opinion this is a little pitty. A normal good Neapolitan margherita remains superior.
The Scarpetta is amazing though, but remains loaded with cheese and very heavy. This was not the case in Caiazzo at Franco Pepe's original Pizzeria.
All this for €30 per pizza, which, in a top-notch location and with impeccable service, would...
Read moreThis place is terrible. Best pizza in the world is a lie. It’s called marketing ! He’s trying to invent something new and it doesn’t work. The margherita sbagliata e davvero sbagliata. Cook the tomato sauce it will taste better. Im a pizza connoisseur- I’ve been all over the world trying pizza this absolutely sucked. Service was terrible as well. Front of house if you will just decides how to arrange the tables but no help. No one to pour water. Went to the restroom and they didn’t fold the napkin they put the dessert spoon on top of the messy napkin wtf? Tiramisu was the worst I’ve ever had. Tasted out of a box not creamy not sweet. Left it- I can get a better tiramisu 2 steps from my house in London. Get...
