The resort itself is lovely and the main building and pool are very elegant. We were staying in the residence which is across the road from the main resort as we needed two bedrooms. The apartment is ok - aircon good once we figured out how to use it, nice welcome basket of food products and decent implements for cooking. However they really could do with a bit of TLC - the marble on top of our outdoor aircon was heavily stained and the walls don’t look as if they have seen paint for a long time. Obviously we are paying a lot less than if we were in the hotel, but the resort needs to decide if they want to rent out apartments or not, as it does give you a bit of a poor impression. Beds were a little hard but not too bad and we had a couple of towel changes and one sheet change during the week.||Apartment pool is small and the ladder to get in is dreadfully squeaky- someone complained about this in 2023. There are a lot of families with small children so it can get noisy. Strictly speaking apartment residents are not meant to use the main pool as denoted by plain rather than stripy towels, but it wasn’t too busy when we were there so we used so,e of the lower level recliners as the views by the main pool are spectacular. Neither pool seems to have showers or toilets- the main one was a bit of a faff as you had to get dressed and then go downstairs, although they were beautifully decorated.||It is possible to pay for breakfast and dinner. When we went which I think is low season this cost €22 for breakfast and €44 for dinner. Breakfast was worth the money - especially as we had our teenage son with us - as there was unlimited smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, bacon and delicious fruit. They would also make eggs to order and bring cappuccino to your table. We ended up going most days and not having lunch. We went to the dinner buffet one evening, there was a reasonable selection and quality was high, but wine was expensive and we generally preferred to eat out at the nearby restaurants, would recommend Brezza di Mare and Mola 91. I do not recommend that you do evening dinner at Vigne Surrau as that was disappointing.||The resort is pretty, there’s not a lot to do unless you want to drive or do the all day boat excursion. We drove to Palau one day and got a day return to La Maddalena just to see the scenery and that was a lot less expensive than paying for the boat. Husband and some walked up to the nearby viewing point in the morning. We also went for a run along the front, there is an outdoor gym but it has one weights machine and a couple of cardio equipment.||Overall to me it’s somewhere between 4-5 stars. The convenience of the apartments would be great if you have a young family, but felt a bit like we were second class citizens and you pay extra for beach chairs, bus to the beach etc. But it is a...
Read moreThe hotel, the town of Cannigioni, its small town beach and the beautiful weather made for a first class holiday in this lovely corner of Sardinia. We fell in love with Resort Cala di Falco and would definitely return, given the chance! We stayed in a junior suite with balcony and sea view on a half board basis. |The suite was very comfortable, with a nice big bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a lounge, with mini bar and a large bathroom with efficient shower. The air con was super powerful (so good, in fact, that we turned off one of the two units before bedtime as it was just too cold). The view from our sizeable and very secluded balcony was stunning, whether absorbing that first view of the day, the bright sunshine and the start of business for the many boats on the water, or the still of the night, with the moon reflected on the calm sea. |The staff in the hotel were all attentive and professional, but warm and welcoming, the food was plentiful and consistently of great quality. We’re not normally fans of buffets but this hotel challenged our views, due to the wide and delicious selection on offer. We didn’t even venture outside of the resort for dinner (which had been our original plan). We twice ate in the Martin Pescatore a la carte restaurant (supplementary charges) for a couple of extra special meals. Wherever we ate we were never disappointed, we could always see the sea, and although the hotel seemed pretty full, it never felt crowded or too busy (same at the pool). As I’ve said, the staff were all great, but a special shout out goes to Laura who looked after us royally, knowing our table and drinks preferences after just a day or two, and the friendly pool bar team; our pre dinner drinks by the pool became a daily ritual, further enhanced by the live music, complimentary snacks and (again) the sea views, in that golden light at the end of the day. |The last plaudits go to the beach experience. The hotel cordons off a private area with sun loungers and umbrellas, literally at the water’s edge, ably managed by a lifeguard. He greeted us warmly, and brought round a basket of fruit once we’d settled each day, to choose a chilled snack. I wish we had his name, but hope he will recognise our comments, if only by the fact we always chose (delicious) peaches! He really was a charming and sincere young man, taking time to chat with us. |If you visit the area, you must take one of the many boat trips to the Maddalena Archipelago, which is beautiful. If you visit Resort Cala Di Falco, it too is beautiful, and you won’t be...
Read moreBeautiful property in great location near town. Lovely pool and public areas with awesome vista to sea and boats. Front desk staff were nice enough. The concierge, Francesca, was really lovely and offered quite a lot of info when we sat with her, but only difficulty was a lack of follow through on communicating reservations or status of boat tours due to wind so we were left confused as to whether or not we had been scheduled. In general though all good and she sent us to the lovely vineyard, Surrau, 10 minutes drive away, for an excellent tour and tasting of local Sardinian Vermentino and Cannanau and reserved for us a lovely table on the terrace at Brezza di Mare, a couple of minutes walk away. Upon arrival to the Hotel, we were given an upgrade to a suite which was very nice and debated paying additionally for a Seaview room, but the bedroom was along the street and we were concerned about noise. The suite we had (302) was quite nice, but definitely smelled damp. Ceiling fans would be very helpful here in general. Using aircon was ok, but not my first choice. Clean, but amenities not refreshed. Oddly, TV was almost all German stations, with 1 French, 1 BBC English, and seemed only a couple Italian stations, but we didn't care as not there for TV. As others have mentioned, there is a walk to get to main areas from various hotel rooms. Lunch on arrival while awaiting room was delicious (see photos) as was the excellent mortadella and pistachio foccaccia panino poolside. Great cocktail menu for aperitivi with live music which was so nice before heading to wonderful romantic dinner at Brezza di Mare. Excellent servers at pool, cocktail lounge, and in restaurant, at both breakfast and lunch. Would...
