Arriving back at Le Pettit Abri was so wonderful, it is my second visit this season and the very warm welcome you receive at this beautiful hotel is so warm and will leave you with such positive emotions. When you arrive you are always greeted with a smile and wonderful service. This small hotel is just like a real home and it is difficult to imagine wanting to stay anywhere else in Champoluc.||The rooms are very spacious, with a large private balcony, the high ceilings in the room provide a very spacious feel to your accommodation. The bathrooms are quite spacious and there is always plenty of hot water. The rooms and the whole hotel are kept spotlessly clean. I don’t think I have stayed at a hotel before that is kept so clean The Pettit Abri.||The bar area is very nice and cosy, with a wide choice of drinks – more grappa here than one person could drink in a week for sure! There are comfortable sofas and a lovely log burning fire and it has a really lovely traditional feel- that it is truly Italian. ||The restaurant is also very cosy and beautifully decorated with a traditional alpine feel and you will always feel relaxed in this informal setting. On the walls they have a set of original skis and boots, it just has this truly authentic feel that makes you feel like you are in the mountains. Breakfast is a lovely buffet with cereals, fruit, yogharts, hams, cheeses, croissants, boiled eggs and cakes along with juices and tea and coffee. There is a wonderful choice for breakfast that will set you up for the day, whether it a day’s skiing in the winter months or mountain hiking in the summer.||I was on the half board option, each morning at breakfast you will be given the choice for that evening – 2 choices of starter and 2 choices of main course. The evening meal is in reality 5 courses to include a lovely salad bar, appetizer, starter, main course and delicious dessert (well this Italy!) I always looked forward to the evening meal so much- the home cooked food is always delicious and there is always a vegetarian option as well. ||The hotel is situated approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the main ski lift, however I went with the British Ski Operator Ski2 and they provide transfers around the resort from 8.15 in the morning to midnight- so being in this part of the village is no disadvantage and I really think that this area of the village is so beautiful and quiet. There is also a spa at the hotel which you can book for private use which is a big advantage as some hotels which have communal spas can get very busy during the peak holiday periods.||Champoluc and the Monterosa is an amazing hidden gem of a ski resort with 200 km of marked piste and endless off piste possibilities, this really does tick all the boxes. Even during bust periods you will still find the slopes are pretty empty and the runs are all pretty long. The great thing is you can ski to Gressoney and then on to Alagna and you will never have to do the same run twice in a day. I would definitely recommend using Ski2, as they provide transfers from a number of airports on any day of the week, so any duration is possible in Champoluc!!||The Pettit Abri is a superb family run hotel, so warm and friendly that is like a second home for me and I will be back for sure, the hotel is run by 2 sisters Pierra and Alessandro and their staff and as well as providing such a friendly atmosphere, the quality of service is 5 star!!! Special mention for Laura as well who made my stay so enjoyable. ||I cannot recommend this hotel enough!! The true test of a hotel is if it seems not so much like a hotel but a welcoming home- and thisis like a home from home!!!! I will definitely be back again and again!!! Thank you so much to you all for such a...
Read moreWell I visited Champoluc and Le Petit Abri once again just before Christmas 2014. Once again I was treated to marvellous hospitality in what is truly the best hotel I have ever stayed in! Everything there is so homely from the warmth of the staff to the amazing wholesome and lovely food that you receive here.||I was given room 3 this time, an really large room with a balcony that runs the entire length of the front of the building. As it was Christmas, there was a Christmas tree directly under my balcony which gave a real season feeling! The rooms are very modern here but decorated in a beautiful traditional style that will satisfy those looking for modern amenities with those who are looking for a traditional feel. Now new for this year is tea masking facilities as well!!!!||The Bar area is very warm and welcoming, always very reasonable ( surely the best prices in the alps!!) The choice of grapas on offer is amazing - although probably best not to try them all on the same evening!!!||The restaurant is really spacious in yet intimate to make enough not to make you feel lost in the dining room as some larger hotels can do this for the single traveller. The breakfast buffet has a vast choice and also they have hot choices too . The evening meal is fantastic - 5 courses which includes appetiser, salad bar, starter, main and desert. The salad bar is really fantastic and the choice of dishes for starters and mains is excellent and all home cooked -truly delicious Italian food at its best!|| The staff here are tremendously friendly and will really make your stay truly memorable! Having stayed in a number of 4 and 5 star properties all over the world, this by far my favourite hotel. The 3 star rating simply does not do justice to the quality and friendliness of the staff and surely deserves at least 4 stars if not 4 stars plus!||The resort of Champoluc is such a great ski area with 200km of piste - this little known ( well at least to the British market ) ski resort provides amazing skiing, great prices on the mountain and true Italian alpine charm! I went with Ski2 who provide amazing service - you can arrive on any day of the week and for any duration - they provide transport around the resort and have their own ski depot at the bottom of the slopes. They also provide airport transfers where you don't have wait around for other flights.||So would I com back to Le Petit Abri??? Sure I will very...
Read moreThis is the kind of hotel you're hesitant to give a good review because you don't want anyone else to find out...run by a pair of sisters, superfriendly and serviceminded, everything new and fresh but still personal and cozy. Great food, fantastic dinners in a friendly atmosphere, great selection of local wines, kidfriendly, shuttleservice to the lift between 8-10 and back 15-17. Easy walk back though if you to stay in the village and après at Atelier Gourmand ( 15 minutes) prearranged deposit of skis and boots ( on warmers) in the chaotic but friendly skishop at the basestation of the lift. Nice tiny bar with everything you need in the hotel and the open fire is always lit! The super fresh and intimate spa can be reserved and it is only for you...oops...I gave it all away...save a few beds for us.( the beds themselves lacked avtad in comfort but after a whole day of skiing you would sleep well on the floor) the room itself was big, great space for skiwear and modern bathroom with plenty of hot water and a minibar with...
