Was looking forward to spending time in this hotel after a few nights in a rented apartment. The welcome was on the cool side though, particularly when they found I was traveling solo. Safe to say I was discouraged from eating in the restaurant in the evening and told I would not get to eat anywhere except for the two places in town that were not popular (for good reason). There are plenty of other issues:|- The wood finishing looks nice but it isn't finished and splinters are assured. I got one in my finger that took a few hours to pull out. |- Noise travels. You can hear literally everything from neighbors and those above and below. |- Staff are generally rude, except the folks in the breakfast room that were very attentive. |There are some good points - Great location, breakfast is good, free parking and if you can avoid the above noted problems, it is very comfortable. |Overall it was a moderately good stay but probably would not return, and not recommended for...
Read moreLa Rouja is owned and run by man and wife. He's the chef in charge of fantastic food at breakfast and dinner. She in charge of front of house. Everything is run to perfection. Efficient professional friendly staff. The interior decoration is a sort of contemporary alpine style with lots of exposed wood, which is both warm and very homely. The hotel is immaculately clean throughout, yet we never saw the chambermaids or cleaning staff!! The room we had was very spacious with lots of room for luggage and ski gear. Dinner and the wine list were both exceptional and very reasonably priced. The hotel has a very convenient free of charge arrangement for skiers to leave skis and boots at a hire shop immediately adjacent to the Champoluc Gondola. We could not fault this wonderful hotel in any way - probably the best ski hotel we have stayed in in 25 years of skiing, and found it to be much better value than most French ski resorts. We loved everything and...
Read moreI stayed here with my husband and sons for five nights. The hotel is beautifully clean and cosy, the staff are super friendly and helpful and the dinner was great value. I couldn’t fault the hotel. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. When we arrived we were told that we could get a discount at the local swimming and spa complex at the end of the town. I paid €30 for a four hour session instead of 39. I went there every day! This was a fantastic place for swimming and relaxing in an alpine ambience. Italy is so much better value than skiing anywhere else. Looking forward to...
