Casa del Mago — Hotel in Castelmezzano

This place was so incredibly unique - we're so glad we booked it!!!!Communication was absolutely wonderful, it was so easy to meet the contact for check-in and the host was so extremely helpful ahead of time. The location in the village is perfect. I cannot say enough how much charm this place oozes. The place is hand-carved into the rock (but renovated to be modern and comfortable) , the stone steps up to the flat and the ancient wooden door with the locking cross-beam instantly made us feel like we'd travelled back in time. The place may not be for everyone (as other reviews stated to get to the bathroom you have to go up a few more of the ancient stone stairs{but still inside and private}, and the shower is extremely small and cramped) - if you're willing to deal with a very cramped shower and a few stone steps to get to the bathroom, I can truly say the place is...

Wow, wow, wow - we were travelling from Naples to Carovigno by car and needed to find a stopover night. We came across this little gem in the beautiful hillside village of Castelmezzano. We made the reservation through booking.com and was so surprised with the cost. The communications from the proprietor were first class, hiding us to right to the front door. The village has no cars allowed so we had a short walk to the accommodation, but not strenuous. The views are out of this world, and the village has a shop and a few restaurant/bars. Accommodation was an old property, really authentic and once inside you find it’s actually structured into the mountain side, with a cave like appearance. Splendida esperienza, casa storica al centro del paese; ambiente pulitissimo, camino provvisto di legna in grossa quantità, abbiamo cucinato una carne deliziosa acquistata presso la macelleria che si trova 30 MT più avanti. Letto posto sotto un arco in pietra, comodissimo e contornata da lampade artigianali ottimamente conservate, cucina fornita di tutto il necessario e pavimento in pietra. Il bagno è ad uso esclusivo dell' appartamento a 10 scalini di distanza, che consente riservatezza ed intimità. L' appartamento è ottimamente riscaldato e provvisto di una infinità di dotazioni di epoca storica, personalmente sono rimasto affascinato dalla finestra ricavata tra zona giorno e zona notte su una parete dello spessore di un metro, decisamente meravigliosa.
