A lovely little spot in a perfect location. We sat outside for a Sunday lunch. Luckily we found seats, on a tiny surface, just by the stairs. The view from here is simply magnificent. The place serves some nice meat and cheese platters, sandwiches and a few primi and secundi. We had a gentle tasting sandwich (some meat, local cheese and fig jam), a mild tasting mixed bean soup, which is more like a stew and a salad of lettuce, two types of melon and the local prickly pear fruit. Dishes are not too big but overall it was really good.

Terrible food, terrible service, AVOID! The soup was just warmed up beans, utterly void of taste, not even salt was added. Their 'signature dish' of dried peppers was tasteless as well. Basically they just serve antipasti platters, no actual cooked meals. No pasta, no main courses. And the service was terrible as well, they seem to not like 'out-of-towners' much in this remote mountain town.

Overpriced for sandwiches. We had a small group seated outside to enjoy the view, so on the upside we enjoyed some nice local wine with a pretty panorama. On the downside, service was less than optimal (in a word, it sucked.) Despite having reserved we had to push tables together ourselves; staff repeated ducked behind crates to play on their phones instead of tending to customers -we had to ask three times for bread to accompany a cheese plate that should have already had the bread with it, for example. We had to flag them down for more water, but it didn't arrive and we had to squeeze out from the table to go inside and ask. Sandwiches are okay but the bread tasted day-old and a bit tough. We spent a hefty sum but still service was truly uncaring and unattentive, not at all the norm for a region known for its hospitality. Let's just say that there are better places in Castelmezzano for an authentic...

The venue is lovely, the view is great. I think the boys that run it are sweet but very young so are still learning. The soup was ok (or would have been with seasoning) but the salad was just a bit of iceberg lettuce, tiny bits of chopped up cheese and a few bits of tomatoes.. no dressing, nothing. Bit strange! The sandwich had hardly any filling. I think they need perhaps need to charge a bit more to create decent meals if they cannot afford to make them better at the price they are selling them- I would prefer to spend 10euros on a decent salad than 7.50 on a bowl of lettuce. Same goes for the sandwich. Hope they figure it out as they have a good place to build a business from, and a pretty captive audience up in...

Really disappointed, shabby service, cheap little satchels of olive oil and balsamic dressing thrown on the table, old lettuce that should have been thrown away, mozzarella cheese cut up into tiny cubes. Looked across at locals having far better quality of food and service. Not a great place if you are a tourist, real shame as I highly recommend everything else about Castelmezzano. Probably should have complained but language barrier and disappointed enough. Hungry afterwards, great pizza place up the road and the bar across the road does great pasta, service great at both places, redeemed...
