I started with 5 stars. Then I had to take one off because they do not have all the major channels on TV. I had to call the reception from my phone because there is no number listed to call it. I tried 0 but it was no good. I explained the problem and the nice receptionist said she would check. She came back saying that I was right and that no one else had mentioned the problem in the past. She would talk to the engineer in the morning. I started using the bathroom and found more problems and I only took one more star off (although 2 was more appropriate) as on the plus I found that the underground parking was very good). Anyway, back to the bathroom. There is no real places to hang your towels (what is there is useless). They are very concerned in NOT wasting water (and I agree with them) but then they have the old (1980's) mixer taps that take time to adjust the temperature. Nowadays the best are the automatically controlled water temperature, where one side opens the tap and the other adjusts the temperature, much quicker. I know that I am not tall, but not short either. I am 1metre 70. But my legs wouldn't touch the ground when I sat on the toilet (very annoying) and very difficult to reach the shower head when it is hooked at the top. I suppose the majority of their clients are German, nice and tall. Overall not too bad a hotel, but could...
Read moreB&B looks great from afar but very tatty and unloved . Things have been thrown onto the walls. Even the tv is wonky! The terrace as such is a concrete coffin with the ugliest of bamboo barriers that aren’t use to man or beast. Not sure if pets have ever stayed in rooms but for someone who has reactions to flea bites, being bitten alive every night isn’t great. Thank god for antihistamines. The staff don’t greet you at all at reception. Stayed for 5 days and only one girl acknowledged us on one evening. The cleaner on the floor however is always pleasant and friendly. There are are two breakfast chefs/ assistants. The man is on top of everything. The woman looks likes she would gut you if you approached her for anything and she wasn’t able to keep on top of refills and clearing away the empty trolley. We sat there 45 mins one day and no bowls or milk were ever replenished. Breakfast is extra and buffet stole so the fact they can’t keep on top of it is very poor. Thete is a wealth of over priced cheap looking microwave meals and a vending machine for drinks at €1 a cup. There is no kettle or fridge in room and Caffee on door stop.
Premier inns back home are really top end compared...
Read moreB&B hotel como like it's other hotels is a basic and minimalistic hotel chain. Rooms are equipped with a good bed, table and chair, safe, hangers, hair dryer, toiletries. What could improve is some details like marks on the ceiling, wall and dirt outside the window. You pay extra for the rooms with windows, so I would expect that the outside is good enough to open the windows specially during spring time when hotels across Europe switch off the air conditioners. The hotel is located away from the main como city but if you walk a few metres to the main square you get bus number 1 to go to como city and the pier. Tickets can be bought at the tobacco shop like other places in Italy. A big supermarket chain esselunga is right opposite the hotel, which has a nice place for breakfast. So Incase you don't opt for breakfast at the hotel, this is the place to go which is open even on Sundays. What stood out for me was the staff. They were very kind and accommodating. But after 11, the reception is not available and you check in yourself. Parking is free which is a big plus. Good place to stay on a budget while...
