We have just got back from a week's ski-ing in the Dolomites having chosen Hotel Rene as our base (through Crystal).|There are so many positives, but a hotel is usually only as good as its customer-facing staff, and here the Rene excelled. The owners were always available and respected and took care of their guests. In particular, Jada, our attentive but unobtrusive waitress, and Mauro, the AC Milan-loving ski-shuttle driver, made our stay special.|Very comfortable rooms of a decent size (my wife really approved of the dual-duvet concept) and with a shower that afforded you that all-important steaming wake-up call in the morning.|Breakfasts were OK and the late-afternoon cake opportunity was definitely appreciated, but the evening meals were pretty sensational all week. We absolutely loved the the various incarnations of veal.|Added to this was a very reasonably priced wine list that had some truly memorable choices that complemented the meals. We could have stayed another week and would not have exhausted those that we would have enjoyed.|The spa (free; which it isn't everywhere) was a welcome pre-dinner sojourn with excellent sauna, steam-room, foot spa and relaxation facilities. One small gripe; the jacuzzi wasn't very warm. Another thing that doesn't float (no pun actually intended) well with everybody is the 'European' delight to shed all of their clothes when using the facility. Now, with the majority of the residents seemingly being of senior status, this wasn't hugely attractive with an embarrassing array of appenditures being paraded and enough beaver to construct a meaningful dam!|Although the ski-room was a little antiquated, it did the job.|We would definitely return. ...

We have recently arrived home after an excellent stay at Rene Dolomites Boutique Hotel. ||When we first arrived at the hotel, we arrived very late in the evening (after dinner) and the hotel very kindly left some nice food out for us that evening. ||The room was clean and spacious and the food was second to none. There was a very good breakfast buffet provided every morning and there were snacks provided from 4pm in the afternoon. Each night we were treated to a four course dinner, as well as a delicious salad bar that we could help ourselves to. The service at breakfast and dinner was always truly excellent. ||Each day we used the efficient hotel bus shuttle up to, and back from, the the main Buffare ski lift. This ski lift gives you access to the whole Dolomite Super Ski Area and the famous Serra Ronda route. Maro, our shuttle bus driver, was very friendly knowledgeable and accommodating. He even gave us a lift to the ski hire shop on the first and last day! ||The hotel also has a wonderful swimming pool and spa, which we enjoyed every evening after skiing. It was really relaxing. ||The hotel is well located in Pozza di Fassa. It is a 5 minute walk to the town centre and about a ten minute walk to the ski lift (or 2 mins in the shuttle bus). ||We would highly recommend this hotel. Honestly an amazing hotel with amazing staff and services. Probably the best ski hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The food is a superb standard. The spa is excellent, well laid out and is luxurious. The steam room is real hot and the water beds are really relaxing. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They tried really hard to understand what we wanted and take any kind of food requirement very seriously. The hotel is well situated despite not being a ski in ski out place. They run a regular and easy to use mini bus from the hotel and the large ski bus is very easy to get anyway. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I actually prefer the location of this hotel to those closer to the slopes as it’s quieter and more relaxing, but still really handy for everything. The lounge has a great little fireplace with a good seating area for apres ski brandies etc. If you are wondering should you go with half board, my advice is that you should. The breakfast and dinner is super quality and the variety is impressive. I have never had food or service close to this standard in any other half board set up. We will definitely return!
