Hotel Review: Hotel Sella Ronda||||The good:||1) the staff is the most curteos and generous I've seen in years. Always trying to help, always gracious.||2) location - within walking distance of the ski lifts on the edge of the town, and downhill from the rest of the town, ||which means that you don't need to make an uphill climb when you come back drunk from the bar.||3) Wellness center - 6euro or 8euro or 10euro per day (pending on when and how you come), this is the best way to finish a long day on the slopes.||4) electric jacks near the beds. this is apparently missing in many modern hotels for no good reason, and here it is.||5) switching light switches that allow either occupant to turn of the main light.||||The bad:||1) The beds. I couldn't sleep more than 7 hours total per night and at most 4 in a row, I always woke up with back aches, shoulder aches and whatnot. Beds for athletes are usually soft, and here it is exactly the other way around. also, they have a metal grid where your legs are supposed to go, so they limit length and movement, which might be a problem if you are 6'2" or taller (I'm 6'4")||2) Elevator is too small for so many people on the same floor. if you come with a ski group it will be an issue.||3) Irregular heating inside the hotel. The temperature doesn't seem to be constant. ||meaning when you move between floors it might suddently be cool, or hot, which is again - ||an issue for people coming to do extreme sports for a week.||4) Breakfast. its both badly designed (traffic jam, will write seperate blog post) and lacking.||The coffee is horrible. It was this kind of filter crap you get at US hotels, no omelettes, only cold cuts and cheese, even the yogurt is this machine thing.||5) bad wifi, somewhere between dialup speeds and totally not working.||||The missing:||1) in room tea \ coffee. People come to ski here from warmer climates, so the cold might be an issue for them, and this is where having in room warm beverages might help. I ended up buying a kettle and tea at the local supermarket.||2) direct passage from ski room to inside the hotel. coming back...

This hotel is in a perfect location to the only gondola to get to the main ski area|Its a shame as it is very dated and could do with a refurbishment |Breakfast is just about bearable no hot choice just continental |The only plus is the cheese and meat selection but had run out on 2 of the days we were there|We were informed not to be late for breakfast. |Coffee is good but cakes and pastries always seem a little stale|Only one happy waiter out of the 3 or 4|Dinner is very hit and miss, again we were told not to be late, meals were dry and one completely inedible|We gave up in the end and visited another hotel which was amazing|The biggest problem is the speed they bring the plates out |Almost as soon as first course is finished they are there with the second course |And I am slightly slower eating the starter than my mate, you still get the second course arriving whoever finishes first.|At one point I was eating the main course and my pudding was on the table next to us|The house wine is undrinkable and the chap on the next table referred to it as vinegar |We only had one glass from the bottle which appeared every night.|They certainly need to get some training in customer service as the Italians do not rush the dinner celebration |I know as I have worked with them for 30 years |The rooms are just OK, quite warm with the beds made every day which has a sheet and some sort of duvet. |The shower is small had some black mould |There is an old chap running the bar we christened Speedie!!!!!!|The staff generally are not very friendly and should get out of hospitality |The car park is especially dangerous with hard packed ice and just a sprinkle of grit.|We both decided that we would not return and I certainly would not...

A modest hotel (3 stars rated) with perfect location if you come for ski: it has its own ski depot and it is 100 meters from the gondola. Located in Campitello di Fassa, a very little village aimed at the service of the ski tourists.||The hotel is simple, relatively clean with very good staff. The service at the dinning room is very good although the food is standard.||The WiFi is a problem: if you really need connection - this is not your first choice. WiFi reception is limited to the lobby and you have to go through a tedious process of connection every time you re-connect. Even then you are limited to the connection time (!) and the speed is low. I gave up after the second attempt to connect and used other alternatives.||In the room you will find basic features: no fancy soaps / shampoos / lotions but it has a very useful hanger in the bathroom (if you wish to wash and dry your underwear), a small safe just enough for passport and camera (if you bring a laptop - give it to the reception), old TV set with limited channels - I had to exercise my Italian - everything is with dubbing... ||To conclude: if you come for the ski and all you care about is the snow and slope - it is good for you.
