We had 5 wonderful nights at Hotel Gardenia al Lago. The fantastic, fabulous Francesca was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. She booked us on the tour of the Lemon Houses which was very interesting and we would recommend it. |The hotel is family run and has a personal touch and the very elegant late owner's wife takes a special interest making sure that everything is perfect.|The setting is perfect as the hotel is right on the lake. Our room was spotless and had a balcony with comfortable chairs where we could sit and look over the lake. The buffet breakfast, which was taken al fresco overlooking the lake, was one of the best we have ever had.|We ate at the restaurant on two evenings and had attentive service and superb food.|Gargnano is a small, pretty town with plenty of cafes and restaurants. Our walking group returned to this charming family run hotel for the third time in September. It sits on the edge of the small town of Gargano and is right on the lake with wonderful views from all rooms. Previously we had stayed in one of the larger rooms overlooking the garden but this time had a smaller but still entirely adequate room with a small balcony on the opposite side. I was particularly pleased to find a bidet in the bathroom but a grab rail to help with getting up would be welcome!|Meals were taken in the garden, which was particularly magical at night with lights twinkling from over the lake and the moon shining on the water. Food is of a very high standard with lots of lake fish as well as plenty of other fare as well. Breakfast is particularly well catered for with lots of choices to suit the mostly German or British guests. Staff are absolutely outstanding, many having been with the hotel for many years. The attractive family run hotel “Gardenia al Lago” is full of character and history, but has been sensitively modernised to meet the needs of discerning guests. The hotel provided us with a perfect holiday in beautiful Gargnano, enjoying the sunshine, its lakeside position, and the trekking in the hills and mountainside above. Our experience was made even more memorable by the kindness, helpfulness, hospitality and fun we received from all the staff at Gardenia al Lago, who clearly take great pride in the service they provide to guests. Breakfasting in the hotel’s lakeside garden, while enjoying the tranquility of the water, was a joy; and the panoramic views across Lake Garda from the restaurant added a unique pleasure to the delightful evening meals.
