Mare Si — Hotel in Follonica

Really fun holiday! Entertainment team were friendly & they organised fun stuff to do every day (table tennis, darts, volley ball, football, tennis competitions etc., and random fun games).

Mare Si's restaurant is really good. Al La Cart menu, & option for their really tasty buffet for a very good price.

Pool is lovely, really big and relaxing atmosphere. If you want fun , go to the pool in the afternoon. If you want to relax, go in the morning , or even better 12:00 to 15.00, it's VERY quiet then (everyone eating lunch). You see the pool being cleaned every eve and the pool looks very clean, although in the deep end there is some small rust on the wall at rhe bottom of rhe pool which is a little off putting.

The sunbeds are very comfortable and clean.

Their beach is great , a 5 min walk . The entertainment team do fun games in the morning. Nice clean toilets on beach. The mini outdoor restaurant by the beach has tasty mini meals. The sea is obviously not as clear as the carribean but it's still lovely , warm and a beautiful beach.

it's driving distance to these beeeeeeeeeautiful hot springs Saturnia (1 hour 20 mins drive) - but SO WORTH IT. And also the beatuiful Tuscan hills!

Mare Si have a piazza where the entertainers do a show and dancing every night in Italian - u won't understand them 100% if u dont speak italian. There is a games room in piazza with games machines and air hockey which is fun. 1 of the games machine was not working though - please fix that!

The apartment is clean and a good size. It has a mini garden... not sure why, does anyone actually use that?

Only down sides is that is not close to town if you wanted to do a big shop etc. but it's VERY close to the beach front where loads of restaurants are (Caribia's my favourite, great ice-cream). And it is near a railway line, and a train therefore passes occasionally but you barely notice it, it passes by fairly quickly and it's not loud. I did not find it annoying at all. The railway is well guarded off and far enough from the place so there are no safety issues.

Overall a very nice relaxing and fun holiday....

I travelled to Italy with my family for my wedding. We started in Venice and travelled all the way down to Tropea. There was 7 of us in total. We stayed at many hotels along the way and thought staying here would be a good break from the sight seeing for the two kids that were travelling with us. We stayed 4 nights and it was horrible from day 1. Our room did not have Air conditioning and our front door always had bees flying around. Being highly allergic to bee stings we brought this to the front desk's attention right away. After having to complain on day 2 again about our room being hotter than outside and the bee problem they sent someone to check. Nothing done about it again until Day 3 when someone came to spray the bees that only returned even more mad and to tell us the A/C was broken. They offered to switch our room the day before we left after complaining about it every day at multiple times during the day and by that point it was more work to switch for a night than to just stay there.. Finally my husband went to talk to the staff and explained the problem with the A/C as he owns a company in Canada that installs A/C units the hotel yet again sent someone to change the thermostate that ended up leaving the A/C on full blast which made the room now feel like a freezer. Oh ya and did I mention that we had issues and had to go ask the reception about the internet every day!!! This place is a joke!!! The grass and flowers are all dead and they make you buy a swimmin cap to go in the pool that falls off every time you jump in.. God for bid that happen more than two times because the staff will kick you out of the pool... When checking out the staff was rude and didnt even bother to offer any form of discount considering I was paying for amenities that i didnt get...Over all this was the worst hotel we stayed at during our month in Italy and I would...

L'episodio più grave e per il quale non raccomando la struttura è il fatto che al miniclub hanno perso mio figlio di 5 anni. Dovevano essere due ore di miniclub in piscina, sono andata a fare la spesa per un'oretta e mezza e una volta rientrata l'ho incontrato casualmente che vagava in lacrime nella piazzetta del villaggio, cercandomi. A malapena se ne erano accorti, gli animatori erano ancora tutti in piscina a saltellare e nessuno era alla ricerca di mio figlio. Il personale si è ovviamente scusato, anche se mi è stato più volte fatto notare come molti bambini di 5 anni fossero autonomi e tornassero a casa da soli una volta finito il miniclub... come se mio figlio fosse incapace... Questa precisazione è assoluta follia: arrivato in struttura il giorno precedente, prima volta al miniclub, non conosceva nessuno, secondo loro avrebbe dovuto aprire due cancelli, attraversare una strada carrabile, orientarsi in un posto totalmente nuovo senza una mappa, aprire la porta della casetta etc. il tutto considerando che avevamo un solo mazzo di chiavi e le avevo ovviamente io, e che un bambino di 5 anni da solo che vaga per strade pubbliche sarebbe anche abbandono di minore (la nostra casetta era appunto FUORI dal villaggio, in una sorta di quartiere esterno, quindi secondo loro sarebbe dovuto uscire per strada da sé). Aggiungiamo anche che mi avevano fatto riempire un foglio in cui specificavo che sarei andata a riprenderlo e che non sapeva nuotare (quindi ulteriori pericoli lasciato da solo con le piscine...) insomma un disastro, non fidatevi assolutamente di questo miniclub. Confermo di aver ricevuto le scuse di tutto lo staff ma ovviamente l'episodio è comunque molto grave, mi ritengo fortunata che non sia successo niente a mio figlio.

Mettendo da parte questo episodio, non raccomanderei la struttura comunque. L'unica nota positiva sono le casette molto carine e la gentilezza del personale del bar, del ristorante e del market. Per il resto non ci siamo. Check-in lento e senza alcuna informazione su animazione, miniclub, spettacoli, etc. Dicono sia un villaggio in cui si usa solo moneta elettronica ma non è vero, all'arrivo chiedono 150 euro rigorosamente in contanti come caparra (per una settimana di soggiorno), i gadget della mascotte dei bambini sono acquistabili solo in contanti, i gettoni per la sala giochi pure e non c'è uno sportello bancomat all'interno del villaggio, anzi il primo è lontano più di un chilometro e quando ho chiesto informazioni per lo sportello bancomat più vicino il personale era incerto e mi ha dato come indicazione principale "ai palazzi rossi", che evidentemente deve essere una zona molto famosa per la gente del luogo. Le casine vengono suddivise in due tipi e descritte come alcune più centrali ma un po' rumorose per via dell'animazione, altre più lontane ma silenziose. Ho scelto le seconde, anche se più lontane dal centro del villaggio per vivere una vacanza di riposo tranquillo, peccato che nella descrizione hanno omesso che queste più lontane si trovano lungo la via Aurelia, trafficata 24 ore su 24, e che il rumore della strada sia tremendo nelle camere, quindi ciao riposo tranquillo. Come già accennato poi per raggiungerle bisogna proprio uscire dal villaggio attraverso un cancello elettronico, fare un pezzo di strada e rientrare in un altro cancello elettronico. L'unica uscita verso il mare si trova dalla parte opposta alle case "tranquille"; una volta attraversato tutto il villaggio bisogna uscire e percorrere un tratto in mezzo ai campi, poi attraversare il sottopassaggio ferroviario e poi dirigersi verso il lungomare, ma attenzione: il bagno convenzionato non è tra i primi che si incontra, anzi. Tutto fattibile, per carità, ma certo non comodo. Il minimarket è piccolissimo e veramente sfornito. Ci sono principalmente affettati, formaggi e un po' di frutta. Niente carne, nemmeno dei tristi hamburger. Intorno al villaggio non ci sono supermercati o minimarket...
