This is our first visit to Italy and we were totally charmed by Tullio Hotel and it’s welcoming owners, Giovanni and Isabella. We are not related to them or knew anything about them other than having chosen them from reviews on the Internet. We totally lucked out! You are made to feel like family the moment you walk in the door. The hotel is facing Lake Como, within a short walking distance. The views are spectacular. The hotel itself is modern, very comfortable and absolutely spotless. The feeling of the hotel is one big happy family because that is how Giovanni and Isabela treat their staff. Our room was bright and cheery with huge sliding glass doors leading to a large roof terrace and small balcony. The included buffet breakfast is absolutely grand. So many choices...so little time. Everything fresh and delicious. Everything carefully and artistically presented for you. As we did not rent a car, we did have to take taxis to various restaurants, although many of them are within walking distance of a mile or two, some are even closer. When we could not find a taxi Giovanni was kind enough to drive us. Not something he could do on a regular basis as he works very hard overseeing the hotel from the front desk seven days a week to make sure that everything is running smoothly. We were sorry to leave the hotel but the...
Read moreThis hotel is a 3 star that feels like a 5 star. A warm and modern design with a fantastic swimming pool, it is literally located in the shore of the lake. Breakfast is stupendous. Drinks at the pool made by the delightful Nando are a must. The papa bear owner Giuseppe is omnipresent while his wife fusses over everyone. Although it doesn’t have a restaurant it offers a delicious all day menu. We ate a great Caprese and parmigiana di melanzane. Our suite was huge. The furniture comfortable and the bathroom has a huge and powerful shower. What more could you want. As a chef I appreciate quality. Hospitality rather than rote service. And everything served here is of the highest quality. I can’t recommend this quiet getaway enough. And as a bonus it is a 5 minute scenic lake walk from the “beach” which you will need swimshoes for as it is quite pebbly and rocky but offers delicious clear water of a comfortable temperature (at least now in summer). A further 5 minutes brings you to the equally charming and spotless village. If you are looking for a truly relaxing and scenic...
Read moreReally nice, modern, relaxing hotel, we were on a long walking trip and it was a perfect place to finish and rest for a few days especially with the outdoor pool and garden area to relax and refresh in. Very nice room with large balcony and lake views, good wet room style shower room. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Location is outside Gravedona so a bit of a walk into either Gravedona or Dongo if no car, but the result is a lovely, quiet location. Only drawback is that the kitchen closes at 7.30pm so if you want dinner later, or something more sophisticated than lasagne, etc, then you need to find somewhere else - but this does mean the hotel is quiet in the evenings however. Staff were very good at recommending and booking a nice place for us though. Would recommend and...
