We stayed here as part of a ski holiday booked with Crystal. The hotel is a traditional hotel and very very quiet (could be a good or bad thing). The food (particularly in the evening) is a highlight. It was nice to have the same table every night and a 4 course meal (5 if you had cheese) . Choose the the two main courses in the morning over breakfast. Breakfast was continental.||||Our room was very nice. Lots of space. We had a corner room with a nice private balcony. My only criticisms of the room are that the shower head was very old and did not give a very even spray and the shower cubicle was darkish. Did the job but would not take much to put a new shower head in. There were not enough good clothes hangers -given skiers have quite a few things to hang up , but for anyone really. Please invest in ten good wooden hangers per room! ||||Adequate and warm ski boot room.||||The hotel has 4 stars. I usually expect a pool or spa for that, so I don't think it is a four star hotel, but there is a sauna. Its certainly a very good three star hotel. I would stay again.||||The village of St Jean is lovely. Really old and traditional. Its quiet at night but we did find a lovely pub/bistro / bar a few minutes walk from the hotel. It was nice to go out at night . Its also next to a small, well stocked supermarket which is really handy.||||In terms of ski-ing, you have to get the bus everywhere and most are free (not all) but the bus stops outside the hotel and once you get the times its no problem to get to Steffal or Gressony le Trinete. We also had a great Crystal rep called Jamie (best Crystal rep Ive come across by a long way) and he also organised a good ski away day to Pila. The skiing in the area was great. Usually go to big ski resorts in France or Austria. Was very impressed by the ski area, the scenery and how uncrowded it was - even at half term!...
Read moreWhilst this is a traditional hotel, rooms are very spacious and clean. Ours had a comfy superking sized bed. Decor is slightly dated but the room had lots of storage for clothes etc and also had a key operated safe. Towels and bed linen were changed once during the week. Our bathroom had a bath and overhead shower. The water was hot but unfortunately our room did not have good water pressure so the shower was only a trickle. Other rooms had walk in showers and good pressure. The hairdryer was an old fashioned one fixed on the bathroom wall. This wasn't very powerful either.||The food was excellent. Breakfast was standard continental (pastries, bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, cereal). A hot option was also provided each day of scrambled egg and bacon. Evening meal consisted of antipasti, first course of soup or pasta, main course and desert. Drinks were reasonably priced and very generous measures. ||Ski and boot storage is provided although this isn't heated.||All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. ||It is a short (10 mins) bus journey to the punta jolanta lift. Further to Stafal. The bus stop is outside the hotel, on the opposite side of the road by the police station. There is a regular free ski bus (marked Navatta). This is marked orange and red on the timetable. There are other buses but these have a small charge. Unfortunately the 0900 bus is a mini bus and was generally full so did not stop. We went for either the 0830 or 0920 as these were big coaches. || Overall a good hotel with fabulous food and I would happily...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel as a party of seven (four adults and three children aged between 7 and 10) on a ski trip. Although the hotel is about a fifteen minute bus journey from the main lifts in the Monte Rosa, it was a great base for the holiday. Most of the buses are free on your lift pass but not all. The hotel provided us with tickets to use the buses which weren't free.||||Unfortunately one of our party broke their leg on day two and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and in particular Renzo the reception staff were brilliant and helped with the logistics of getting parcels sent to the hospital in Milan and making phone calls to the hospital to assist with the language barrier.||||There is a ski room (no boot heaters though) and the food was excellent and plentiful. The village is a short walk away (5 mins) which has a selection of gifts shops and a supermarket, cashpoint, chemist. The hotel is quiet, very comfy with a homely lounge area to sit in the evenings.||||Our only criticism was the shower in our room was...
