When I went to Milan, I have to say to I was asked to be in Milan-Italy as soon as possible for urgent business purposes. These kinds of trips/stays are never easy, so I asked some colleagues on a suitable place to stay knowing from experience one needs at least some comfort if not "home-comforty-type-of feeling" at the end of a mostly hard-working day. ||Next to that, in line of such (urengey-type-of) trips, my needs in on the whole as a travelling consultant are in general very simple:||- as long as I have somewhere quiet (and I mean Quiet !!!!) ||- clean, ||- internet-available, ||- customer friendly ||- relaxation (a bit of theatre, movie theatre, music nearby and culture reachable) ||- safe (always very good to have !) ||- good (local) food, good bed||- some good shopping (for food et cetera) nearby ||- sports nearby type of place to stay and sleep with some normal conveniences in the neighbourhood, being a normal guy... ||... I'm happy. ||||Everybody promised me when I travelled to Via Ortica 27-Milan/Residence Victoria that this would be the case. So I was happy with this. ||||When I arrived in the middle of the night however, I honestly will say I had my doubts. ||Let's be honest: the environment looked a bit scruffy with every house having all gates closed, all kinds of window-shutters drawn, some old fashioned semi-small business buildings along the road, and me never having been there having no idea at all in what kind of neighbourhood I was. (but as it turns out, this is typical city-Italian, so in the end don't let this worry you). ||||So I parked my car (yes, there is parking space available for normal family cars, but request up front just to make sure), got my bags out, went to my appartment and got to bed. ||I checked out my appartment I rented before going to bed of course, and actually, I was quit nicely surprised: ||- the place was to-tal-ly clean, fresh bed linnens there, double bed in sleeping room, comfy sleeping-pull-out-coach in living room; ||- cable-tv||- Phone (local-national-international)||- although there are train-tracks in the front and back, I ab-so-lu-te-ly (!!) never heard a thing, not because I was too tired from travel, but simply because the whole place is very superbly sound-isolated (and I am a very light sleeper !!!, I had worse "sound-proofing" in 4-star hotels in Basel !!)||- the place is fully airconditioned||- kitchenette in the room with all the coocking-utensils you need for a whole family of 4-5||- clean beds and sleeping couch + extra child bed available upon request||- separate simple but very clean shower/toilet room. ||||I went to bed and slept like a rose, like I said: never heard a thing from any train-traffic. ||Didn't even hear a thing of the airplanes nearby (Linate airport some 10 kilometres maximum in the distance). ||||Next tho this, when you walk out the front door to the left, local but VERY good restaurant at 10metres on the corner (you get a nice price reduction there if you stay at Residence Victoria and mention that to the restaurant Ortica people). ||To the right a local pub (Gato Negro, if I remember correctly, 100 metres to right) and local brewer/restaurant (again 100metres to the right, a cross the street).||Out the door to the left, under the viaduct, go right to end of street, then left again, then straight forward about 1 000 metres and you have "Esselunga" shopping mall (very good quality of food stuffs and price!!, Media Markt, pharmacy, hair dresser, et cetera). ||||Any taxi (see local taxi Iphone apps) and nearby trams will take you to Milan tourist sites within minutes. Some very nice beautifull and to my experience safe parks for a walk in minutes distance in the neighbourhood. ||||Price: I paid (including tourist taxes) about 70,- euros all-in per night, which in Milan is very good price for this type of quality/appartment-hotel. || ||||Evaluation: So in the end I was nicely surpised. It's not a five star hotel, but a normal family-type of stay. ||And Mr. Luigi, the proprietor, who sometimes even brought me to the station or drove me to the shopping mall, made staying here a very very enjoyable and nice time. ||||Will I stay in Residence Victoria again when I have the chance? ||I would say for sure: yes, I will gladly do so. ||||Try it, but do not expect room service and luxury. Expect normality, cleanliness and a good price with a homely-feeling in a urban-Italian-neighbourhood. :-)||||Kind...
Read moreWe were looking for a hotel near the airport in Milan and found this property. Not easy to find, need a gps. The staff member that checked us in was very helpful and helped us with several items. Parking is free and in a secure area, gated. Room was clean and served the purpose. We had dinner in the little restaurant below the hotel and the food was great, we were not sure what to expect but had a very good meal. Wish we had this in my town! The hotel is right next to several rail tracks and trains do come by the hotel. Being a light sleeper I though it would be a problem but it was not since the number to trains that run at night are reduced. I slept great. Would come back and stay again if we fly out of the city...
