My husband and I came to Naples for his visa appointment at the American consulate. We booked ourselves a room for two nights at a lovely hotel well in advance. Then, just before we were going to leave, our two elderly friends asked if they could come with us. They don't get out much and it sounded fun to them to stay in a hotel for a couple of nights. Our hotel was reportedly full, so we booked two single rooms for them at Hotel Kennedy--one street over from our hotel. That evening, we received a call from Hotel Kennedy asking us to send them a prepayment. They initially asked us to send them a photo of my credit card. I don't know why this didn't send up all sorts of red flags for me, but I figured perhaps they were just ignorant of credit card security. We gave them my information over the phone instead. They also asked us when we planned to arrive and we told them we would be there around 8:30 p.m. They did not state that this would be a problem at all. The next day, we were on the road towards Naples, and Hotel Kennedy called us around 5:30 p.m. asking for a definite arrival time. They informed us they were normally there until 6 p.m. at the latest (which we didn't know before that point), but when I said 8:30, they (in a somewhat discourteous way) said they would make an exception for us. All of this seemed strange to me--if a customer is coming to your hotel, you should be willing to make accommodations. Being an American, I suppose I expect good service as a rule, but it doesn't always happen (even though some reviews for this hotel state that the staff is lovely). At any rate, we ran into bad traffic that slowed us down by about an hour. We promptly phoned the hotel to let them know we would arrive around 9:30 instead and they essentially told us we were out of luck and could not stay there that evening. After long exchanges with several employees, they finally relented and said someone would be waiting for us. They even phoned Booking.com and had them communicate with us--not sure why, although after reading some of the reviews on here, I'm beginning to understand. As we continued to approach Naples, we phoned again (probably around 8 p.m.) just to verify that they were waiting for us. They confirmed. Well, when we arrived at the hotel (around 9:10), not only were we dismayed to find it lodged on the top floor of a dumpy apartment complex, but no one was there to let us in. We called the same number we had used before at least three times, but no one answered. We were able to get inside of the complex and go up to the 7th floor rooms where the hotel is lodged, but after knocking on the door for several minutes, we decided not to harass the neighbors and promptly left to find another solution for our friends. The next day, the hotel marked us as no-shows which meant we were no longer able to access our booking, even though we had booked for a second night. For all they knew, our friends still wanted to stay there for the night they had already paid for, but they didn't even have the courtesy to call us!! This was a complete nightmare for us on every level. I've also attached a photo from the hotel's website, but would like to point out that at least three of the things they proclaim are not at all true: it's a one-star hotel (not two stars), you can't see the sea at all, and the staff are not at...
Read moreI recommend this hotel if u don't care about being in the city center but all u care is sleep in a clean room, nice furniture (sometimes too much :) ) , with airco, in a family atmosphere with Armando being always friendly and helpful. ||You do need a car but close by you have a parking garage or if u don't want a car there is a metro station few minutes from the hotel.||The breakfast is good there are sweet and salty things maybe they should isolate the rooms better from noises coming from outside and put some curtains against mosquitos but for the rest very good!||||Quality price is worth it for sure! ||||Thanks a lot Armando for the great hospitality once we are in Naples we'll come for sure again!...
The area around the hotel is not super nice and it is on the 7th (!) floor of a building complex.||||But inside the hotel I was really surprised. The hotelier, Signore Amando, makes every conceivable effort to enable a nice stay for his guests. Such a friendly hospitality and helpfulness is rare find. ||||The room was decorated with passion and equipped with TV, well working air condition, clean and spacious bath and so on; it really deserves more than one star. Everything was clean and tidy well beyond the Neapolitan circumstances.||||Breakfast was offered in a small corner, but plentiful by Italian standards - and tasty. Even tea was available in different varieties and not the cheapest brand available, not common in Italy.||||The price was quite low and well worth the stay. Should I ever go back to Naples, I'll haunt this hotel...
