I have just spent the best part of a week at the Romoli Hotel, Rome. The place was about as good as I could have hoped for, making my trip all that more pleasant.
The rooms were pretty spacious. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of storage space, a fridge and a television. The air condition worked (though, my Scottish self would have had it cooler) and the toilets were fine enough.
The hotel and parking is surrounded by a large security fence, one that needs to be open for staff. It appears to be a pretty secure location. My window was barred on the ground floor. This was fine for us, we didn't need a view. It did give us a nice breeze and no concern about someone breaking in. If you want a view, you'll want the higher rooms but then, you're not going to Rome to sit and stare out of a window.
The breakfasts were very much to my families cup of tea. They had a fine selection from breads to cold meat, eggs, sweet alternatives and a good selection of drinks. I rather enjoyed getting up for a bite before I went out. I assume all the food was locally sourced and were all pretty tasty.
Other reviews are right when they say the walls are a little thin. You can hear a lot in the hotel, mostly chair scraping and foot steps. But they have sound proofing doors for each area that certainly help. We had to suffer a couple of days of students, who thought the hotel was their own personal play pen. They were loud and annoying. This was quickly sorted when I politely brought it up to the fellow on reception. We didn't have a problem after that. It was lovely and quiet.
On the subject of staff. Not a single complaint. The folks working there were all very nice and pleasant. They went out their way to help you when you needed it and we couldn't have asked for more from them.
The local area was quite convenient. There's a large park full of ancient ruins, a market, plenty of places to shop or eat. The Metro is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and (if you want to chance it) several bus stops near by.
My stay here was great. I'd happily come back (and we do plan to). I recommend Romoli as a cheap and cheerful way to stay in Rome. For us British folks, this hotel is above the standards of the average Travel Lodge....
Read moreThis Hotel in the suburbs of Rome is a true jewel. It is situated just next to one of the most beautiful natural parks of the Eternal City: The Caffarella Park, bordering to Via Appia Antica, the old Roman road to Brindisi. In Caffarella Park and on Via Appia Antica you can walk, bike, do jogging or just have a great picnic. The hotel staff is very friendly, helpful and supportive to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast area on the rooftop terrace envites to enjoy breakfast in the sun (or later the day for an evening apericena!) and plan your trip. The breakfast buffet has a rich choice and way above average of other hotels I have been in Rome. If you ask for a Cappucino - or any other coffee - they will pepare it for you (so not just coffee machines, which are allright though, providing good quality coffee). The rooms are very clean, bright, and cleaned up daily - if you wish provided with fresh towels. They are well equipped (TV, AC, bath, toilet etc.) and spacy. The place is quiet, the WiFi works reliably. It is possible to park the car within the hotel compound (so safe!) and there is plenty of space. I biked a lot and rented a bike in town, the hotel offered a save place to store it in the hotel compound. The metro station (Furio Camillo) is a 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the closest bus station (Nr. 628, going directly to Piazza Navona!) a 2 minutes walk away from the hotel, on Via Macedonia. There are good shopping opportunities in the neigbourhood (e.g., supermarket with good choice, a shop with typcial italian food ... ) just 3 walking minutes from the Hotel. Nice restaurants (don't forget to go to GoodGood on Via Latina!) in the area will make your stay even more joyful. I highly recommend this hotel for...

I had guests visiting Rome from Sunday to Tuesday, and as usual, I booked them at Hotel Romoli because it’s nearby. But after this nightmare, I will NEVER send anyone here again. Apparently, there’s a law that allows hotel owners to turn off the air conditioning when temperatures are below 25 degrees—but it doesn’t force them to. The result? My guests were trapped in tiny, outdated rooms that felt like saunas, with no proper ventilation and only a small, obnoxiously loud fan that was completely useless.
When my guests politely raised the issue with the woman at the reception, she was shockingly rude and dismissive. I went over to see for myself, and it was unbearably hot—completely unacceptable. I calmly suggested that the hotel should at least inform guests of this policy on their website or before they book, but instead of a reasonable response, the woman at the reception exploded, screaming at us and calling us uneducated! The level of unprofessionalism was astounding.
This place is an absolute disgrace. The rooms are uninhabitable, the staff is outrageously hostile, and the entire experience was beyond miserable. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Hotel Romoli is a disaster, and quite frankly, it should be shut down. Do yourself a favor—stay anywhere else. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever encountered, and I wouldn’t wish...
