We participated in a music festival for 3 weeks in July (Semper Music International Festival) and had the pleasure of staying here. Daniela is the main host of what is a charming and warm family operation. She is one of the most cheerful people we have ever met! ||The rooms are rustic-simple and spotless. One thing I've always appreciated is having places to put things. There was so much of that I didn't know what to do :)----shelves, drawers, cabinets, closet.....all of which make a smallish room not feel small. ||We were on a corner so enjoyed two lovely views, and every room has a very nice balcony with a table and chairs. The view is great from any room. ||The breakfast is stupendous and one of the best---if not the best---of comparable lodges. We had first rate espresso drinks, a large choice of wonderful fresh bread and sometimes croissants or a coffee-cake, fruit and mixed fruit (the fruit in that region is to die for), yogurts, quark (a European lower fat cheese resembling ricotta or pureed cottage cheese), a large selection of home-made jams and preserves, a large selection of cold cereals and accoutrements, a good selection of cheeses, etc. They will prepare you an omelette or boiled eggs as well. It's easy to get through half the day on that breakfast. ||Be aware that Daniela does not speak a lot of English. If you know a little German or Italian you'll thrive in the S. Tirol. I had a hilarious time communicating with Daniela by speaking to her in Spanish and mostly understanding her responses in Italian. (I know a few main words in Italian which I substituted as I could--which helped). ||I highly recommend Hubertus. And if you like strudel, be sure to go to the bakery that's at the main bus stop in town, on the same side as the bank. They have a fabulous apricot strudel as well as a great cheese one. (You also can't go wrong with apple anywhere in the area, because they are literally hanging off the trees everywhere.)||I should add that there is a lounge/bar room with a refrigerated...
Read moreEven jaded travellers will appreciate this Dolomite experience, from initial booking to stay-what a pleasure. More than expected:||Arrive at the foot of awesome Schlern mountain, with it's grandeur enhanced by the spiky peaks of the surrounding mountains, emerald meadows and fresh mountain air.||Be picked up by the charming hostess at the bus stop-so no need for transportation as the busses have a great schedule and the hotel is close to the old village center.||Then enjoy the small hotel, tastefully furnished with historic and whimsical items, and the view-two windows right into the scenery! Squeaky clean, comfy, quiet. Amazing breakfast with limitless fresh coffee, freshly baked goods, eggs and an amazing variety of goodies in a dining room that overlooks a small lake and historic church. Service is great, they will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable.||Good location for exploring, dining, relaxing-we did not want to leave....
Read moreThe Hubertus is located in Völs am Schlern / Fie Allo Scillar, which is the prettiest of the three villages Seis/Kastelruth/Voels. It is a family run B&B with nice and clean rooms and a very good breakfast with lovely homemade jams, fresh fruit salad, different lovely breads with cold meats and cheeses, eggs, yoghurt and seeds etc. just what you need to start a day in the mountains. ||||The hostess, Daniela, was absolutely lovely. She was always available for counsel on walking routes and also otherwise always smiley, warm and friendly. ||||The Hubertus also has a small sauna in the basement, despite the size a nice effort with lounge music and candles. ||||Give me a 5* spa hotel anyday, for my/our next trip to South Tyrol the place to stay is...
