Another amazing stay at Hotel Sovestro, our second consecutive year running - this time for two weeks. So impressed that Jet2 have made this gem accessible to us.|Myself, my husband and 17 year old son stayed in a large, ground floor room with terrace facing the rear of the hotel. It was within a couple of seconds walk to either pool.|What we loved… ||The Sovestro staff team - they are all absolutely dedicated to making your holiday the best it could be. From the morning greetings from each smiling face of the housekeeping team, to the helpful front of house staff, breakfast team, poolside service and restaurant staff, everyone is working together for the good of the guests. There is a relaxed, calm atmosphere with a family feel whilst everything runs like clockwork.||We loved both of the pools, which are immaculately clean and always have loungers/seats to spare. No morning rush is needed. There is a quieter pool with jets and a large pool with small side pool where you can sit in the sun. Pool towels are available for free.||There is a large, safe car park with plenty of space. We never struggled to park. It is also locked at night.||Breakfast! Such a wide choice catering for every dietary need & wish. The freshly squeezed juice is still our favourite!||Free shuttle bus to/from San Gimignano. We made more use of this during this year’s holiday. It runs 4 times a day to/from town and it saved us an often impossibly hot walk up the hill.||The Via Vecchia. This is the old rural road up into town from the hotel. We used this to walk back. Spectacular views. Bit dark later on but we still felt very safe.||Ristorante da Pode. We ate here twice. Excellent service and home-cooked Tuscan cuisine. Felt very authentic and special.||Proximity to San Gimignano. We under-estimated how much we’d love this unique town. Even by other Tuscan town standards, San G is incredible. Such grandeur and history with a really friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Food & drink prices are reasonable too. We ate in town 5 or 6 times and enjoyed every meal. Of course, you can just grab a piece of pizza and some world-class gelato!||Other great places we visited: Guardestelle picnic with wine (located on the road behind Sovestro), Siena (we parked at the stadium, so easy), Florence (Villa Constanta Park & Tram worked like a dream), Grosseto & coast (nice to see but extremely hot that day), Lamborghini Museum (over 2 hours away. Easy enough drive but not as good as Ferrari), Colle di Val d’Elsa (another ancient town but not as magical as San G).||On a practical note, PAM Superstore in Poggibonsi sold great wine and other essentials to keep us going when we felt like chilling on our patio.||We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. A superb location deep in the Tuscan countryside with easy access to picturesque towns and larger cities. The Family Failli had created a very special holiday experience. Thank you for another...
Read moreBefore you discount this review because other reviews are good, I urge you to take a look at my review history. I have written almost four hundred reviews on Trip Advisor, and almost never rate anything as one star.||This hotel may work for some, but the way we were treated should make you think twice about booking this hotel.||When we arrived, in mid-October, 2024, we were given a room that was at 24 degrees Celsius, which is over 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I immediately tried to lower the temperature, but the thermostat was off. When I asked the staff about this I was told that the air conditioning was turned off for the season a few days before our arrival. They said they had a room in another building, where the air conditioning was still operational, but they refused to move us to that room because it was a higher priced room. I explained that I sleep with a bipap full-face mask, and need the room to be cool, but they did not care. They did move us to a room on the other side of the hotel, that was slightly cooler. (They said it was 21 degrees Celsius, and it may have been initially, but when I checked later it was 22 degrees, and it was that temperature when my wife and I woke up the next morning. (Please see photos.) They also provided a fan, but the fan was noisy, and made it difficult for us to sleep. The room was also humid. The fan basically blew hot, muggy air around, made noise, but provided little relief.||I am really annoyed because there was no good reason for them to not just move us to the building that had air conditioning still operational. It's not as if we had planned this as a way to get a better room at a bargain. We obviously could not have known that they planned to shut down their air conditioning a few days before we were to arrive, or that the weather would be hot and muggy. Neither my wife nor I got a good night's sleep.||Additionally, while they do offer an advertised shuttle service to San Giminagno, the times the shuttle runs are not convenient to making the most of one's time visiting the area. Please take a look at the photo of the shuttle times. You will see that there is no way to enjoy an evening or even dinner in San Giminagno, since the last shuttle back to the hotel leaves at 17:20. (5:20 PM.) If I were a skeptic, I'd say that could be by design, to encourage guests to dine at the Hotel Sovestro's restaurant, instead of enjoying an evening in town.||On a positive note, the breakfast options were quite extensive, and some of the offerings were very tasty.||We will definitely not be returning to Hotel Sovestro, and I would urge you not to book...

From the moment you arrive, the fantastic staff makes you feel like a valued guest, with warm welcomes and attentive service that goes above and beyond.||The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and impeccably clean, offering a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the stunning Tuscan countryside. Waking up to views of the rolling hills and the nearby medieval towers is a true delight.||Dining at the hotel is a highlight, with fabulous food that showcases the best of local Tuscan cuisine. Whether enjoying a hearty breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a romantic dinner, every meal is crafted with care and bursts with authentic flavors. Its a huge hit with locals which tells you just how good it is||The poolside area is just perfect—a serene spot to unwind and soak in the sunshine. The pool itself is great, offering the ideal place to cool off while surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
