Ristorante da Pode — Restaurant in San Gimignano

I went to this restaurant because it was in the Michelin guide. I would NOT go there again. It did not meet my expectations. The following things:

First of all the staff was fine, but not very outstanding or super nice compared to other places. They were in a hurry all the time.

I arrived 5 min earlier than my reservation at 1900, the guy told me to wait outside ?? There was literally no one in the restaurant.

The food is fine but not outstanding. 15 euros for simple Melon with parmaham.. crazy. I had the gnocchi with truffle but the truffle was from very bad quality and did not taste like real good truffle. (also 23 euros). Also had the tiramisu but was not the best i ever had. It was very basic.

Also they put the airconditioning on 27 degrees?? It took the waiter about half an hour to notice that. Once noticed they put it back to 23 degrees.

There are way better restaurants in Tuscany, especially for the price you pay. This restaurant is just very...

We ate here last night and had the worst meal I've ever had in Italy. Not one element of the experience was positive. It took the waitress 30 minutes to even take a drinks order. The water that arrived was incorrect. The fanta served without ice, the wine poor. No olive oil with the bread. Starters were terrible, my crostini with pecorino and truffle was basically cheese on toast with the least flavoursome truffle I've ever experienced. The wild boar ragu pasta for main was marginally better although too salty. The owner was surly and the only ambience provided was that of a electric fly catcher that zapped every 10 seconds. Seriously, don't bother, unless of course you want to have a nostalgic...

Good and friendly service at the table, However, the quality of the the food was very poor (eg overcooked and very dry wild boar, thick slices of truffle instead of nicely thin shaved, glutenfree options that caused immediate reaction as if it contained gluten…) Certainly not what we expected based on price-level, reviews and former experience of our Italian friends. What bothered us most though was the reaction of the staff on our feedback, it was definitely not on them, the food was served as it was supposed to be and our daughter probably ate something wrong elsewhere..not very friendly and definitely not professional. Don’t go there if you want to have a nice experience, better pick...
