This hotel was absolutely terrible. It all started on the first day when we arrived, and the room was nothing like what we had expected. If I had known this beforehand, I would never have booked it. The pictures on the booking website looked completely different from the reality. The room was extremely dirty, there were stains on the walls and curtains, dust everywhere, and worst of all, there were so many dirty black hairs on the bed sheets and pillows. We reported this on the very first day, but instead of helping us, we received a very rude response from the cleaning staff, insisting that the room was not dirty. They offered us an “upgrade” for €500 for a so-called better room, which we, as students, simply could not afford. We decided to let it go and tried to make the best out of it. The dinner was disgusting, and the breakfast was the most basic I have ever seen. But then it got even worse, in the middle of the night, my roommate got bitten by an insect. We decided to check the mattresses, and to our absolute horror, we found bedbugs and bedbug eggs in the seams, along with lots of dead ants. We were so shocked that we packed our things in the middle of the night and went to the reception. Thankfully, a very kind man at the front desk gave us a different room. However, even that room did not meet any hygiene standards, the air conditioner was full of black mold, and so were the showerheads. The next morning, after this horrible experience, we woke up to a message from the reception saying that we had to pay extra for this new room, something that had never been communicated to us beforehand. We never received an apology for everything we went through. Instead, the owner called us to a meeting to explain the situation and gave us two options: Leave for the last two days and supposedly get a refund of only €150, which would take weeks to process through the travel agency and wouldn’t even cover the cost of booking another hotel, as everything nearby was much more expensive. Stay in the hotel, but we were literally told to “keep our mouths shut” about everything we didn’t like. Our last two days weren’t any better. As I mentioned, the air conditioner was full of black mold. They claimed it was cleaned every few days, but judging by the amount of mold, it clearly hadn’t been cleaned for months. On top of that, the AC didn’t even work, it wasn’t blowing any air, leaving the room extremely hot and stuffy, and we couldn’t sleep properly. Opening the door wasn’t an option either because the hotel hallways were full of hundreds of mosquitoes and other insects. They also advertise a WhatsApp service for guests, but every time we sent messages asking for help, we were completely ignored. All in all, this was an absolutely horrible experience. I have never stayed in such a filthy hotel before, with such unfriendly and unhelpful staff. I must say that one man at the reception did try to help us a lot, but all the other women we dealt with were extremely rude. We never received any apology for the situation. Instead of leaving the hotel rested, we are going home stressed, with bedbugs to deal with at home. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel unless you want to sleep in a filthy, insect-infested place.

Bed Bug hotel This hotel is absolutely not worth four stars. From the very beginning, we were already dissatisfied. The rooms were not properly cleaned, very small, and the food was of extremely poor quality. We only ate at the hotel on the first day and never again after that, as it was simply unbearable. On our fifth night, I was bitten by bedbugs in the middle of the night. We stripped the mattresses and discovered they were infested. This was a huge shock for us, and we immediately went to the reception. Lilio, who was working at the front desk at that time, listened to us, came with us, and saw the bedbugs himself. He then offered us a so-called “comfort room,” which later turned out to be more expensive. However, there was nothing “comfort” about it—the air conditioning unit was full of black mold, barely worked, and the room was constantly damp and stuffy. Apart from an extra painting on the wall, the room was practically the same, but with far less privacy. Definitely not an upgrade. In the middle of the night, we had to move all our belongings ourselves without any help. The next morning, we received a WhatsApp message from the hotel stating that if we wanted to stay in that room, we would have to pay extra. Of course we refused. Instead, they offered us a refund of €150 for the last two nights, while a new hotel would cost at least €400. On top of that, they wanted to charge us for a late check-out because everything happened after 10:00 a.m. The hotel claims they called a special cleaning service to treat the room, but they refused to provide any transparency or reports about it. We never received a single apology and were treated incredibly rudely—especially by Arianne, Jessica (the owner’s daughter), and practically every woman working there. The only person who genuinely helped us, stood up for us, and listened properly was Lilio. Even at check-out, the hotel tried to overcharge us. In the end, we spent seven nights sleeping among mold and insects, unable to enjoy our holiday at all, and were treated extremely poorly. The hotel has made no real effort to make things right and now completely ignores us on WhatsApp. Do not come here if you want to enjoy your vacation. We left €2600 poorer and with nothing but a bizarre and horrible experience.

Not recommended – Poor service and no response to complaint We stayed at Hotel S’arena Beach in La Caletta on August 9, 2025, and experienced a complete power outage in our room around 2:00 a.m. At the same time, a very bright emergency light turned on automatically and could not be switched off. It stayed on for about an hour, making it impossible to sleep. However, the real issue wasn’t the power outage itself, but the unacceptable lack of support from the hotel: •The reception desk, advertised as 24/7, was completely unstaffed. •We had to search the premises ourselves and eventually found a staff member asleep in the restaurant. •No temporary solution was offered (e.g. cutting the power to the emergency light or moving us to another room). •The next morning, our request to speak to the hotel manager was denied – even though the manager was on-site. •We never received an apology or even an acknowledgment of the situation. •Staff claimed there was a town-wide outage, but this was never substantiated – and other buildings on the premises were not affected. •We sent a formal written complaint and requested a partial refund, but never received any reply. The hotel even provided us with an invalid email address for the manager. For a hotel in this price range, this level of service is absolutely unacceptable. We cannot recommend staying here.

We spent one week at this hotel, and unfortunately, we left with extremely negative experiences — we will never return. The problems started right away: pigeons nesting in the roof structure made constant noise, making it impossible to rest. The breakfast was unacceptable — it couldn't even be called food. I had stomach pain every day after eating it. The walls were paper-thin; we could hear everything from the neighboring room. The air conditioning was unbearably loud, and we could even hear it coming from the room next door. However, the most serious issue happened on the day of our departure — a traumatic experience we are still trying to process. Two days prior, we requested an airport transfer at the reception for August 7th at 6:00 AM. A lady with purple hair took all the necessary information and verbally confirmed that the taxi was already booked. Later, she sent us a message on WhatsApp informing us of the price of the transfer, but we never received any official confirmation — no email, no written document. This was already concerning. When we initially booked the hotel, the listing stated that airport transfer was included in the price. Then, two days before departure, we were told it was not. On August 7th, we checked out before 6:00 AM as planned, to make it to the airport on time — but the taxi never arrived. There we were, in the early morning hours, standing outside with our luggage, completely abandoned. The elderly man at reception was not only unhelpful but also rude and dismissive. This is absolutely unacceptable in any hotel. We were deeply disappointed — not only in the hotel itself but also in how the entire situation was handled. We cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances, because based on our experience, we have no idea how they handle complaints or compensation requests — and from what we did see, it appears they have no functioning system in place for either. In the end, we were so desperate that we had to hitchhike with three large suitcases, completely exhausted. Our feet were sore and blistered from all the walking. The entire time, we were terrified we would miss our flight, which would have meant losing even more money on top of everything else. I was in tears — our pets were waiting for us at home, and since we had planned to return that day, there was no one else to care for them. Thankfully, a driver finally stopped and gave us a ride to the airport — but just think for a moment: what if something had happened to us in a stranger’s car? The whole situation was frightening and incredibly distressing. We are still in shock from the experience. This was not just a minor inconvenience — it was a serious, exhausting ordeal that completely ruined the end of our holiday. We are deeply...
