The outside of the lovely old house lived up to expectations, although we did not see inside. Our room, although large and interestingly furnished, was dark, and very musty. However, the duvet was gorgeous. The air vent fan in the bathroom was totally blocked with dust and filth; should think it had never been cleaned. The plug in the basin would not keep water in. Worst, our dirty towels were not changed, just left lying where we had left them. ||Despite what is said, there was no evening food on offer, local eating places closed, so daughter Anna rustled up an emergency meal with pasta and pasata. Tasty, but after a 5 hour drive, not what we hoped for. Anna was charming and made us feel welcome, whilst juggling her own family and her job too.||The lock to our room door was very difficult. Returning after a day out, we spent 20 minutes, in the pitch dark, with not a soul around to help, trying to get in. Although told we could use the "breakfast room" (an outbuilding in the garden), it was locked; so we could not even get in to boil a kettle for a drink. The comprehensive list of "rules" bans eating/drinking in the room - if you can get in! Despite asking in advance, again, no evening food available.||Giovanni's breakfast was meagre, barely enough coffee for a cup each, he seemed interested only in taking the money, cash only!||We find TripAdvisor helpful when planning trips, as hopefully one gains a balanced view of where to stay We are seasoned independent travellers, with realistic expectations and have never before left negative feed-back - it's the differences that make the world...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Case Zuccaro for two nights, as part of our tour around Sicily. This place is probably the best quality-price value you can find around the Mount Etna area. We cannot express how welcoming, comfortable and lovely our stay was. Our room was huge, clean and charming. Giovanni made us feel at home from the very first moment: home-made marmalades for breakfast, useful travel tips for visiting mount Etna and the towns around Trecastagni, and a warming sicilian athmosphere which totally made our...
Read moreWhat an amazing experience! Owner Giovanni was the best host we could have wished for. Very hospitable, extensive breakfast (including homemade marmelade from his own garden), we immediately felt welcome. We will never forget the characteristic villa. The airport, the beach and beautiful Catania can be reached within half an hour. Finally, you have a beautiful view of Mount Etna from the garden. The accommodation was clean, fully equipped and takes you completely into the...
