Arrived in San Leo on a hot August afternoon it was a very warm 32 degrees. Welcomed and shown our room by Francesco which was quite spacious, very clean with amazing views out the windows. There is no air conditioning or fan, whilst the shutters were closed the room was quite hot.||On returning from placing the authority to park card on the dashboard of our car my husband saw a plastic fan on a stand in the entrance area. He incorrectly assumed this had been left out for our use. ||We enjoyed a good night sleep made possible by the fan. ||On entering the breakfast room Marco informed us that the fan was not for our use and had been left there for a family in another room. We apologised and felt bad for the other guests as one truely could not have slept without a fan. Breakfast for us was awkward and strained and we quickly ate still stinging from the "reprimand" for using the fan. ||Thankfully this is the only time to date in over 5 weeks travelling Italy that we have felt uncomfortable and keen to leave our accommodation. Would we stay here...

We were able to park for free at the nearby parking lot. ||||The room itself was on the first floor, reachable by a staircase. It was comfortable, with a wonderful view out of our window to the valley below. The bathroom was spacious. ||We met Marco next morning over breakfast, and enjoyed our chat – he’s very knowledgeable about the area and had a number of suggestions to offer. Breakfast was served in the room next door, with a reasonable spread that included a smashingly delicious fig jam pie baked by his...
Read moreWhat a treat staying here was! At first we thought we'd taken a wrong turn as we wound our way up a narrow mountain road....but as we passed through the stone gates there was San Leo and the fantastic B&B. The town is so beautiful with plenty to see. The B&B itself is, as many others have said, a hidden gem. The owner, Marco, is wonderfully welcoming and the breakfast is superb. Lots of locally sourced goods, plus food made at home too. The room itself was clean, airy, with all the mod cons you need (beautiful, newly refurbished bathroom too). This was by far the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in and we will...
