Awful experience, tainted two weeks of our holiday.
I said hello to reception and gave my name and presented 6 passports. The guy looked at his screen and then over at my family waiting and said “ you are six but you’ve only paid for one room” in a really poor way as if he’d uncovered a fraud. I said yes six of us 3 in each room. Again in a condescending voice “Mr finlay you have one room and you are 6, you’ve paid for 4 people not 6”
As id just told him we’d booked two rooms I was now getting a bit upset with him, tired after a long drive I’m now faced with what I thought was a booking error. Not to worry as I would show him my booking with two rooms and he’d apologise. Just as I was getting my phone I asked if he could please check again, I done this as he had now told a colleague that he’d caught someone cheating and I was not happy.
He looked at his computer and said “ah yes two rooms” and went into checkin mode.
No apology or anything.
After an awkward wait while checking in he asked if we would like breakfast as I’d not booked it wanting to get away early with still 400 miles to travel. He said it was just €10 per room which seemed cheap or if we decided in the morning it would be more expensive. I asked the family and they said we’d stay for breakfast. As we’d arrived a few hours later due to traffic we’d probably be there while breakfast being served so said yes ok. Funny enough I was left thinking that the man wouldn’t list us and I’d get a higher bill the next day due to his awful attitude.
So next morning lady asked our room numbers and then came back to me with a larger bill, exactly as I had thought but hoped it wouldn’t. I’d usually just agree as I don’t like to complain or have any confrontation but no I went to see the front desk.
A new man was there but the guy who checked me in was there also , possibly doing a handover from night to day etc
Surprisgly another stern mater of fact attitude greeted me, you haven’t paid for breakfast so this is the price. I said and pointed at the guy that he had offered a price last night and I had accepted. The man then without asking his colleague said again that I’d not been on the list so the higher price was payable. The guy who failed just stood there and never said anything. I asked the guy to say what had happened and he stayed silent, all very surreal. After another couple of minutes the man spoke on the guy and then said ok, allowing me to return to my huge cup of tea breakfast.
It was really awful experience.
What made it worse I thought for the next two weeks that see were coming back there so bugged me big time. Fortunately for us and I only realised when arriving that I’d booked assago for the way home which was 10 out of 10 and more experience. In fact Fredericko from Assago Milan should train the...
Read moreThe Check in: The Receptionist was very nice and quick. It's just a bit weird, that he's the only trustworthy thing in this part of the City. You'll feel uncomfortable, when you're outside, uncomfortable in the parking garage and uncomfortable in your room.
The parking: The good thing is: you don't have to pay a cent. The bad thing on the other hand: there's no CCTV. I heard from other guests, that someone broke in their car, while they were parking somewhere in the city, and the receptionist replied, that this is a common problem in that area. To be honest, I was very worried after hearing that. Yes there is a gate which just can be opened by the reception. But is it safe? Let me Check. We arrived at night pressed the button in front of the gate and someone opened it. I haven't registered our number plate or anything. Does that mean everyone can get in without circumstances? I don't know to be honest, I hope not. The garage looks like it's only half build yet because it's not very bright enlightened or painted fully. But i don't think that it will change in the near future.
The Room: Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and all in all okay. The A/C is a bit hard to control correctly. You'll see, that it doesn't seems to follow any logic after pressing any button for the first time. It starts to blink, says "help" on the display, cool too much or too less. Personally I didn't like the Windows, despite them being closed, i heard cars arriving outside.
The TV: Nearly just italian channels, sure it got BBC News but not really much more than that. I know that this hotel is placed in Italy, but even hostels have a more various TV programm to offer.
The Minibar: The minibart is as expensive as expected, and not good enough equipped. Even not enough glasses. We were two guests and there was just one glass. Two water bottles, one with, one without gas, and one Pepsi.
All in all:
The parking is weird, but nothing happened to our car. The room is okay, but the A/C is going to piss you off, i don't ate Breakfast, I can't tell anything about that, the receptionist is nice. And for the most important: it's cheap. And that's why you'll...
Read moreFrom the US here! We are a family of 4 . Just stopping through in Milan from our trip to Switzerlan as we head back down to Naples. Check in was easy. But the entrance to the hotel is very unkept. Overgrown grass everywhere, almost felt like a half abandoned parking lot/entrance. 😳 there area around the hotel is overgrown as well.
We booked a joined room. A Queen which had an extra twin and the adjoining room had two twins for our kids. Rooms are pretty clean with light floors. Beds are decent and firm. Our bedsheet had a dirt stain on it. 🤦♀️ Room air conditioning was nice and cold. Decor on the wall was plain. There is a kettle with coffee (we don’t use it) and a mini fridge and as always nothing stays cold it seems in Italy hotels.
The bathroom was ok, it was clean and updated but the inside corner of the tub area was gross. It had black mold in the corner and the grout was dirty! They provide bottle of shampoo and body wash. No conditioner! Water pressure was good and strong but the shower was leaking water over and out the tub because the tub is only half covered with glass. The shower head is angled weird so in order to shower you have to face it towards the glass which sprays water out. The towels were old and rough.
Breakfast as usual for about $20 a person with the standard room temperature yogurt cause nothing is ever chilled or kept cold around here. Watery eggs, hot beans, mushrooms, onions, and a bunch of sweets like croissants and pastries. Your typical Italian breakfast 🤷♀️ we never eat the hotel breakfast and my hubby just grabs breakfast outside. There is a McDonalds just down the road and for $28 we got -2 pankcake -Eggs and English muffin -2 ham mac & cheese McMuffins -2 donuts -pistachio croissant -3 large cappuccino -3 cheeseburgers
Parking is free. There is underground parking with easy access to the rooms.
Again, this was just an overnight stay as we pass through so it will do. If you’re looking for more of an above average experience/ stay…this ain’t it! I would compare it to a Super...
