THE HOTEL: First thing you need to know is, if you aren't a member, you need someone who is a member to arrange for you to stay here. You cannot just make a reservation like at a regular hotel. My suite was the biggest I've ever stayed in; a 4-person apartment with two bedrooms having 2 double beds each. The rooms were 15x9 by my estimation and had dimmable lighting on each side of the center bed table; makes lighting more comfortable for all. There was a large bath, a big living room (with blackout curtains) and kitchen, with a mini fridge; size: 25x12 or so, overlooking the bay, with a long balcony to enjoy the awesome view. The room includes a fake rattan-style couch and table, several chairs, and a TV in a console. Not over furnished so one can move around and not bump into stuff everywhere! Strong wi-fi, comfortable bed, almost no noise from next door. Rare! STAFF: All polite, helpful and courteous, especially the people in the restaurant. We were the last ones in and out and they happily accommodated us though we stayed past closing time. The Chinese dinner isn't cheap - 💴 11000 per person - but well worth it. The staff explained each dish in its entirety, then brought them out a minute or two after the previous one was eaten. The meal had about 10 courses and I was full but not bursting. It may not seem worth the price to the average American who may be used to having a big amount of food on each plate but the presentation and plate design are a big part of the experience at many upscale restaurants in Japan. So, add in the beer -Asahi Super Dry - a couple of glasses of Champagne and other drinks and you've just dropped about 💴 35000. The rate is favorable so it won't put such a big dent in the wallet of those of you using dollars. It's impressive if you're with a special someone. At night, the garden and pond are lit up like it's Christmas. Seems to be a popular wedding and photo-op area. The grounds are well kept and there's a heliport and several ponds among other stuff. The hotel also has several other restaurants, pools and a hot spring but I didn't check those out. The lobby has stores and other amusements to pass your time. Buses come at regular intervals of about 30 minutes and pick you up at the port and drop you off at the hotel door free of charge; you can leave your stuff with the staff while you explore the grounds or the island for an hour or two, if you so wish. Five stars all the way!
More -TRAIN, FERRY AND ISLAND: I took the Odoriko express from Yokohama station. You can reserve a ticket on Japan Railways' website but I walked on and bought tickets from the conductor when he came past. The seating will have a green, yellow or red light above it. The red means no one has purchased that seat so it's available. Yellow means purchased; the person will get on later. Green means taken; the person is there, in the toilet, etc. Decent seats with enough legroom for most for the 2-hour ride. The ferry ride is about 30 minutes and costs about 2400 yen round trip. It may sound like a duh! type of thing but keep the ticket if you buy a round trip one. You only show it when getting on the ferry in Atami but give it to the person collecting when you arrive back in Atami. Many people go to the island to sightsee, go snorkeling or to the hotels for a meal. Call in advance! There's a bus (number 7) from Atami station that takes roughly 10 minutes in the afternoon but a cab only costs about 1400 yen so if you're in a group of 3 to 4, that's a reasonable option. The bus was a bit less than 300 yen if memory serves me correctly. There isn't really much to do on the island, in my opinion, but it isn't a bad place for a day or half-day trip. They also have cottages for rent, with areas to BBQ and walking paths to explore. I'd say at a steady pace, it shouldn't take more than an hour and a half to walk the whole island. Some places are no entry and it may be hard to go down to the water in some areas due to the various hotels and private properties on the island. Train 5, Ferry 4,...

Stayed 1 night at Grand XIV which was just about right. Rooms were very spacious with 2 bedrooms, living and dining room though the kitchen only had a small fridge full of stuff they wanted you to buy. Only negative points were that the electric hot water pot was very old and would not even heat up the water enough to make a cup of instant noodles and there was no microwave either so there is no way to warm anything up.
The buffet dinner and breakfast were first class but cost 5000 and 2000yen. For dinner add 1000yen to have all the alcohol you want to drink from a limited selection and for 2000yen slightly wider range so I would say it was well worth the price. Beware, breakfast starts from 7:30 but at 8:00 was so crowded and we had to wait 40 minutes to get in! Recommend going at 7:20 to be first in line or real late...but not too late since it ends at 10:00.
For lunch you either ate at the resort or down by the fishing port are several shops open only for lunch. There is a small supermarket at the port that was very reasonably priced...especially considering that everything has to be ferried to the island.
For activities we enjoyed the “Sarutobi” which was a treetop obstacle course where you wore a safety harness and at the end got to zip line back down to the ground. There were 2 difficulty levels and the second is not for the faint of heart. Also the off-road Segways were great and reasonably priced at 2000yen for 30 minutes. If you signed up a second time, they would take you on a tour of the island which sounded like fun but we did not have time for. There were many other activities such a mini golf, tennis, fishing and mazes for the kids.
The highlight is the Onsen hot spring which was really nice. The view overlooking the ocean was fabulous and I used it a total of 4 times in 2 days! Also the lounge/bar was very nice. The bartender put on a show for my wife since it was her birthday and it was amazing...never ever have seen a bartender that was a such a skilled juggler. Must see if you ever visit.
For the affluent, there are helicopter shuttle services from Tokyo ShinKiba area to the Island which is a 35minute...
