15 mins walk from 別府大学 (Beppu University) station. Traditional style rooms with a nice private onsen bath. Cold water can be added to the bath by turning on the extra tap on the wall. There is also a list in the room specifies what minerals are included in the onsen. ||The dinner was excellent, we only planned one dinner there so went all in and got the 7 courses meal with both seasonal Sashimi & Wagyu beef. It ended up to be slightly too much for the two of us and we didn’t manage to finish everything, which it’s a shame to waste some of such top quality food. It’s of great value though, definitely worth the price. We also got the sparkling pear wine for our drink option (we get to pick 1 for free). It’s super tasty!!! Although it’s seasonal, so may not always be available. ||One thing I would recommend is to double check with the staff about the breakfast options. Apparently, if you opt for breakfast, 1st morning staying with them you will get Japanese style breakfast, and western style on the second morning. But the staff got confused between the room names (each room has its own name) so we ended up getting a western breakfast on our first morning, which is slightly disappointing as the only reason we booked it is to experience the Japanese style breakfast. However the staff and manager apologised so many time, handled it very efficiently and offered compensations. ||Overall speaking, I am very impressed by their food, service, and the whole traditional Japanese settings, and would definitely recommend to anyone who would enjoy a quiet time & immerse in a traditional Japanese...

Read moreStayed here twice for a couple of nights and very much enjoyed it, the property is really well designed and definitely at the luxury end of the market at a good price point. Although modern style it is very much Japanese style and maintains all the Ryokan elements you would expect such as the slippers, yukata, and the onsen, not to mention the mind-blowing multi-course Kaiseki meal in the evening. The rooms are very plush, tatami style and very muted and warm inside with an excellent outdoor private onsen bath overlooking the Japanese garden, a great place to enjoy a whiskey and relax. The breakfast in an impressive and large Japanese style and also they have great juices and free low espresso coffee. The evening course meal of kaiseki was sensational and we had the Fugu main fish course and Wagyu beef shabu which was out of this world. The drinks selection was also great, good range of local Shoju, Sake and other Liquors, we tasted a lot of Shoju and a fair bit of Yamazaki and Hibiki Whiskey all of which was stellar. || Great place for romantic couples or groups and Beppu has plenty to do both day and night if you are interested in great food and drinks. Staff very helpful and English is spoken to a fairly good degree, will definitely be...
