Maeda onsen — Local services in Beppu

Excellent local onsen! Entrance ¥100 if you live in Beppu, ¥200 if you don't. You need to bring your own shampoos and towel. Operating hours 08:00 - 20:00. Closed on the 1st and 15th every month. There is no toilet, no parking. Beppu onsen stamp was inside, in one of the wooden boxes of the changing room.

Pay by throwing the coins in the post box at the entrance. Changing area is connected to the tub area (just go down a few stairs) so you can see your stuff while bathing. Bathing area has a lot of space to wash up with the tub placed in the middle of the room. There are no shower heads so you will use the onsen water to wash yourself sitting on the floor with the provided bucket. Two mirrors for shaving. The tub is small size, oval shape, made of tiles. The water is transparent without smell, measured the temperature at 46.5°C in the tub and 53.6°C at the source. If it's too hot you can add cold water with a hose. The floor is made of tiles, the walls are half white half blue color and there are big windows which allow plenty of natural light. Nicely maintained and clean facilities, friendly people, recommended!

別府温泉巡り🚙💨一年振りの来湯です。 ちっちゃな浴槽は記憶にありました。地元の方に挨拶して入湯💧2人入ればいっぱいの浴槽に適度な距離感を保ちながら😅

しばらくして、地元の方が上がられたので、源泉を止めてる木の棒を抜いて…一瞬で激アツに🥵あぢぃ‼︎しかし、浴槽が小さい分、源泉を感じられるいい温泉でした🌈

別府の共同浴場は何故か…大好きです。 独泉もいいですが、地元の方が居てもいいです。ちゃんと挨拶して、共同浴場のルールを守っていれば親切にしてくださります☺️
