We stayed again (on two separate occasions) in 2014 at the Fuji Natural Hot Springs Superhotel. There is another one slightly closer to the Fuji City train station (across the street vs. 4 blocks), but this one has an onsen (hot spring). Rooms include a combo lock door and you use a code to access the room. ||||Pros - Very clean, great breakfast (fish, curry, rice, stew, bread, free drinks, etc.). Yes, not the same as a USA Denny's breakfast, but good all the same. I kinda like it. I think this location is still very new as my local friends did not know it was there. Staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. A 100 Yen store 3 blocks away. It is like a dollar store. Great for souvenirs. A Family Mart about 2 blocks away. That is like a 7-11. Great onsen (hot spring). A/C in the room gets the room nice and cool. Room comes with an air cleaner as well. Very quite, despite being next to the tracks.||||No wifi in the room, but there is internet access via an Ethernet cable. Bring a cheap $15 portable router with you on your trip and bam, you have wifi.||||Cons - Staff does not know much English. I speak Japanese so not an issue. You can make do with a few phrases. English booking site is hard to use and shows limited rooms. Japanese site has more offerings, especially for non-smoking. They take credit cards or cash. Pillows are a bit lumpy, but I rarely get a plush pillow in Japan. They offer extra pillows downstairs.||||Notes - they do not let you check in before 3PM and they prefer you vacate from about 10AM to 3PM for cleaning, but they will let you back to your room if you stay multiple days. The best way to communicate from the US is via fax. I got an e-fax trial. I faxed this hotel on 2 occasions when our arrival time became later than planned. I think with the free trial, it cost me $0.10. ||||Bottom line . . . I will stay here every time I...
Read moreWe traveled by train and stayed at this super hotel. It as convenient and close to the train. The front desk staff has a bit of english skills. Be patient if you do not know Japanese. If you know some Japanese, you are going to be ok. There is one other super hotel closer to the Fuji City train station, but this one is about 2 blocks further and has a nice onsen (hot bath). If you reserve online in English, your options are more limted and it costs more. If you feel brave or can use the translate function in your browswer, you can get better options by booking directly thru the Japanese site. Please note they do not answer email inquiries. I think they were cash only and you pay at a machine when you check in. They do not let you check in early, but might hold your bags for you for a while. Breakfast is good. Bread, stew, juice and a variety of Japanese breakfast foods. Very clean. A/C works great. Walking distance to downtown Fuji City. Staff is very friendly. Interesting check in process after you pay at machine. You get a code and the code is your key to open your door. I would definately...
Read moreThis hotel is conveniently located about a five-minute walk from Fuji Station. If your room faces Mount Fuji, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountain on clear days.
The hotel has a public hot spring bath, which is shared by both men and women at different times, so be sure to check the schedule. Although the bath is a bit small, it’s very comfortable and relaxing.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of dishes.
Since this is part of a hotel chain, there’s also a membership program that can be quite worthwhile for travelers who frequently...
