We read good reviews about this hotel so we decided to spend the night at Kawaguchi here. The hotel wasn't easy to find. So we used google map to guide us since we were on foot from Kawaguchi station in the evening. We had to walk uphill on little dimly lighted gravel road/slope for about 10 minutes. Luckily we didn't have any luggage but only our backpakcs! If we had elderly or children with us, we would be really mad. The hotel doesn't have hot spring, so the guests need to pass a little passageway connecting to the next-door hot spring hotel called Kukuna. The room doesn't have a hairdryer and shampoo. So we basically and literally took a shower and dried our hair in the public hot spring area of next-door hotel. Our room is on the 2ND floor. We could hear a dog running around and biting in the room above our room on 3rd floor. The receptionist, who I assumed the owner, closed the reception around 10pm. So when we needed something, like ice cubes, we had to ring the bell and she would come from a room next to the reception counter. The receptionist actually asked why we needed ice for. This hotel is old, but it's clean. They don't have pick up service, they have drop off service from hotel to Kawaguchi Station. This place is more like a guesthouse, the one without food service, very minimum service and facilities. This just...

Read moreI stayed at this hotel for two nights. The decor feels very retro, like the 80s. The view from the room overlooking Mount Fuji is a marvelous sight. I could also see the full moon reflecting in the lake. The onsen is a unique experience, and the baths are at a pleasant temperature. They need to be remodeled...
