What a FAB hotel to stay at - yes it is older, yes it could do with a coat of paint and maybe an upgrade BUT||||our room 210 was HUGE - we had a fridge, tea/coffee, NO safe and a TV (small - but didn't matter as in most of the hotels in Japan there are no English channels anyway)||||The bathroom as huge and everything worked well - plenty of hot water and yes the ubiquitous Japanese toilet||||The room was air conditioned, but you could also open the windows||||The beds were great - extremely comfortable and we had a great sleep||||As the hotel is out of town and it is a long way to get there - we had full board - dinner and breakfast||||The dinner was a buffet - both Japanese and Western food available - a HUGE selection of all you can eat||||Alcohol was available for purchase - at a reasonable cost - you could buy a drink at any time from beer, Japanese wine to European wine - all at very reasonable cost (no price gouging here)||||Similarly the breakfast was also a buffet - Japanese and western - a wide variety of food available||||The service is fine and the staff are friendly - there is also a small souvenir shop near reception with a range of souvenirs - and what we noticed is that they were reasonably priced - again no price gouging the cost of the souvenirs - all local||||But yes the hotel has it's flaws but the view is just spectacular||||All in all - a great place to stay - but don't expect 5 star luxury - it has it's flaws -...

Read moreFantastic location if you want a dreamy view of Mt. Fuji.
The hotel is otherwise lower than 3. The 4 and 5* reviews here are clearly plants from the family of the owners. I think this is my first negative review, but I feel a duty to warn people before they come of what they're getting into.
Japan is a country filled with delicious food. The food here is...not good. The mochi were gelatin instead of actual mochi, for example. Every corner is cut when it comes to food.
Rooms are spacious but very old.
Duvet covers are a strange style that only covers 60% of the duvet, so inevitably you end up with the duvet coming off. This means you're sleeping against an uncovered duvet. In a hotel. If you're a foreigner you may chalk this up to merely being a cultural quirk. Friend, it is not. Japanese would not tolerate this.
On that note - the staff and most of the patrons don't appear to be Japanese.
No bar, but vending machine options. Coin operated massage chairs available. You get the picture.
Windows were very dirty, which was a shame because the morning view of Fuji was the highlight.
Hot spring was nice and warm, so that was a plus. Staff were otherwise very nice and friendly.
Overall, as other reviewers have said - if you are looking for a budget hotel in the area that has a nice view of Fuji, this place might be a fit!
If you're looking to impress your romantic partner, or want a decent 3*+ experience, this one is...
