Our stay at Regina Hotel in Fujikawaguchiko was far from what we expected. From the very start, the experience was frustrating and inconvenient.
First, we waited for their shuttle bus at the train station for an hour and a half while watching multiple other hotel shuttles arrive on time. This was frustrating and set the tone for the rest of our stay.
When we finally checked in, the disappointment continued. Our room had a terrible odor—so bad that we had to go out and buy a room spray (Glade) just to make it bearable. A hotel room should at least be clean and comfortable, but this was not the case.
Dinner was another letdown. We had purchased their Wagyu Beef A4 dinner meal, but what we were initially served was not Wagyu at all. We had to call the manager, and only after raising the issue did they finally bring us the actual Wagyu we had paid for.
We needed a taxi early in the morning, and the hotel staff first told us that taxi services started at 6:30 AM. However, when we asked for one at that time, they suddenly claimed no taxis were available until 9 AM. We later found out that taxi services in the area actually start at 9 AM, meaning they had misinformed us. With no other choice, we had to walk 25 minutes to the station, where we found plenty of available taxis—something the hotel should have been upfront about.
To top it all off, breakfast was okay.
The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the breathtaking view of Mount Fuji from the room. Waking up to that incredible sight was the highlight of our stay, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to make up for the numerous...
Read morePreviously, I have been to Tokyo three times but never made a pit stop to see Mt Fuji. We finally bit the bullet and decided to take a 3 day trip to stay around the area. We connected from the shinjuku station to Kawaguchiko station. This hotel does provide shuttle service every 15 minutes but is only available UP until 8pm. Anything AFTER 8pm, you will need to take a taxi from Kawaguchiko station.
Once we arrived to the hotel, we were greeted by front desk. I believe the individual who helped us was ‘Cui’ based on what I see from his name tag. Let me say this….this guy is so awesome!!! He helped upgrade us to a larger room, which had its own living room and a walk-in closet. Moreover, he provided awesome recommendations for food and travel that is super accurate.
Outside of the fantastic service, the hotel has various amenities: Small convenience store area for you to buy snacks and water. a nice Hot springs area for folks to relax. umbrella - they let you check out umbrellas. It rained first day so we needed this. microwave at lobby - you can heat up your food if you get the bento boxes from the Selma/Bell market. free parking spaces if you rent a car
Room wise hotel room was very clean because of upgrade, we had large living room and walk in closet hotel had balcony for you to enjoy the view of Mount Fuji.
Location is super awesome. It’s walking distance to convenience store and restaurants.
We plan to come back again during winter season so that we can take pictures of Mt Fuji when there is snow. For sure we plan to book this...
